So I have a publishes iOS game, and the loading screen which I display after the launch screen behaves differently on different machines.

On my iPad air (ios 7.0) it displays the loading screen fine, but on an iPhone 4 (ios 7.0) the screen remains black after the launch screen and the loading screen doesn't display.

Has anyone else encountered this? I have a feeling that having maybe a couple more SYNC() commands before switch to my loading screen might fix it.

I'm assuming you're not using (or talking about) the splash images that you set up in xCode. Is that correct?

We're running some beta tests this weekend with my new loading image (we currently use splash screens). I'll let you know if we run into any issues on the iPhone 4. I've been really unimpressed by the performance of AppGameKit on the iPhone 4 and 3GS, the frame rate is low and all over the place.

Does your game freeze at the black screen or does it load after a couple of seconds? On Android we were having freeze up issues at app launch, but after moving o the prebuilt interpreter we've not seen these issues. But that wouldn't explain the issue on iOS.

There's a big in xcode... Apparently xCode 5 has some issues if you don't use the new asset catalog feature. I ran into some issues when I recently tried to remove and put in new images... None would load. I ended up falling back to a backup and all was fine. Make sure you have all of the images you can have and if it isn't working in the simulator then it probably won't work on the device. Also give a try to the asset catalog. It unfortunately doesn't tell you the required image sizes, but you can make note of it before starting to use the asset catalog.

Thanks,

I'll take a look at it.
