Dark GDK / Why is there dbInk() ?

Hello,
all directx functions use an unique color-parameter, so why is there dbInk() and not a color parameter for each function?

Just curious, because i'm not using these 2D Functions of GDK anyway.

I don't know how it works internally but judging by how slow it is to use I'm guessing it rebuilds the bitmap representation of your current font and blends it with the desired colour.
