Hey guys, I have a quiz game and I want to make it 3D. So far it is only 2D and it is kind of boring. I want to make this quiz fun and exciting. So far I have this done:

If you play the game, it will be kind of boring.
Any ideas?

I also give credit to the people who helped me with most of this game.

If the game is boring, 3D graphics certainly won't help. What you should work on instead - in my opinion - is a better 2D presentation (e.g. a visual representation of the timer, maybe animations, or even just more appealing text rendering*), more (and possibly more interesting) questions and maybe some kind of highscore or achievement system for improved player motivation.

Also note that you could create math questions automatically using random numbers. Furthermore randomizing the order of the questions would certainly help.

*regarding the text, there are several options of what you can do to make it look better.
- you could use a plugin that allows anti-aliased text rendering (such as cloggys d3d_func dll which offers the usual set of text commands, with the difference that they look much sharper than the inbuilt DBP texts)
- you could animate the text by making the color depend on the timer() (run this for a simple example: do : cls : ink rgb(255, 150+105*sin(timer()*0.3), 0),0 : text 200, 50 + 10*sin(timer()*0.2), "My Text" : loop )
- you could create a simple shadow effect or something like that, as in this code:

Feel free to use these functions if they are of any help to you.

Add some sound effects and fancy graphics.

For an idea, here's another type of quiz game I started a year ago for my niece and nephew. Never finished it cause they weren't living with me anymore.

I'm trying to use your code Shellfish, but I cant seem to get it in my game. The code is different. Instead of having the questions in the Variable I have it in a data.

What do I do to change the text?

Remember that your questions in DATA are being read into an array. You have to call those array variables to get the string then call Shellfish's functions.

shadowedText(x, y, science(i).question, rgb(255,0,0))

And as far as the random math questions, something kind of like this:

Well I'd personally go with a game similar to TV Show King. That was the only entertaining quiz game I've played in quite some time.

New sig coming soon..

Check out You Don't Know Jack:

It's got some pretty good visuals. It's pretty entertaining and might give you some inspiration.
