I'm making a run of the mill zombie game that no one will care about. I have been solving one issue at a time as I tread through the process. I have all shaders off so that my zombies will be hidden in the dark. I have an outside level and the zombies glow until I get within a certain distance from them then they render in the shadows. Yikes. I have tried many shaders to keep the zombies dark and always end up with less than desirable effects so I just turned them off. If there is a shader that corrects this then great. If not, what do I do. Please help. Thank you.

Hi I love dark games
I know what your asking for, but I'm a bit confused when you
said this..
Quote: "and the zombies glow until I get within a certain distance from them then they render in the shadows"

Do you want them to "glow" or just be "hidden" until you approach?
If so, try spawning your character when you get closer to them.
Or do you want a "slight glow" at a distance?

Sorry to be unclear. No. I do not want zombies to glow ever for any reason at all. I want them to stop glowing. What I was saying is that these 2 zombies (in picture ) are glowing until I get within a certain distance from them. I want them in the shadows at all times. Never glowing.

Yes I have ran into the "glowing" effect before, and always
comes down to a shader.
There are several things you could try. As I stated before, you
could spawn your characters when getting closer, lower the alpha
so they are transparent until you approach, or switch shaders.
You said you tried many shaders, just which ones? Also look
into COZ (creator of zombies) shaders. He made several that
give a nice effect without the "glow".
best

edit: found this old thread on shaders, should be of help to you.
Read thru it, but remember some of these shaders may no longer
work? http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=155573&b=21
