I have been looking at both of these but I can't figure out what the difference between the two of them are. Could someone explain? Thanks

I own them both and they essentially do the same thing: load a 3d model and allow you to capture images of it, to be used as sprites. It's mainly the interfaces that differ.

I found SpriteMe a bit more practical to use. Placing objects in Model2Sprite was slightly harder and it runs in a tiny window (that can be enlarged by editing a file, granted), making the UI less handy. Both programs could use some upgrades to the interface though.

Blender is my favorite, but it does take some extra work to learn. However, once you're set up you can animate your model's frames to separate PNG files then just import them into GIMP and there are plugins for GIMP that will turn it into a sprite sheet (there's also a plugin for Photoshop to do this if you have Photoshop).
