Hi all,
I bought a copy of DarkGame Studio some years ago. I coded some demos (for some demoscene competitions ), then I forgot about it due to lack of free time (ouch!!)..
Now I'd like to know if Dark Basic Pro is still supported and if it is still developed and updated by TGC ? Also, if it is still updated, what will be the features that will comes ? Will a new version of directx be supported ?

Also, even if I like to use DBPro mainly for demos and other cool stuff, I'd like to know if is possible to create a facebook leaderboard, just in case a day I'll want to get into puzzle games world

Thanks mates

The answer is .. It is not clear.
Lee is updating dbp engine for FPSCReloaded but there is nothing sure about a new upgrade

Even if not updated by TGC, There is still an active comunity and some members are still bringing us awesome plugins..

It is frustrating but that's life...

If you want quick result, prototyping and small/medium project, DBP is still perfect for this..

If you are planning large project or you are watching toward the future, better invest your time and effort in another engine..

Hi La Verdier, thank you for your reply
Well, that's sad that the maintenance status of DBPro is not clear. It is so cool that the community is developing new plugin, and also the support for dx11 is something awesome!
Perhaps I think that it would be a good idea (if plugin devs are ok), to officially include those plugins (like DX11 support) in the next update of DBPro (I think that Lee Bamber should at least consider this way).

Ah I forgot to ask:
- Is there any support for XM/MOD ?
- Is there a way to synch grafich with music volume ?
- What about the facebook leaderboard ?
- Multiplatform byte code interpreter ?? (That's would be fantastic)

Yeah that's perfectly right. As I said I use DBPro to make Demos, and 2D Games. For more complex games I use another engine.

BTW: I'm not claiming anything, I'm just asking in order to understand better the DBPro situation

Search the forums for FMOD or BASS, that will allow you to support mod sound. Actually, this is probably what you want.

There is no native FB integration.

DBP relies on DX, there will never be multi-platform support. It compiles into machine code, you'll never see a bytecode interpreter.
