I was worried about this a bit. I was still living in Virginia when I pledged. When TGC sent an email about the T-Shirts, I replied and gave them my new mailing address in Alaska.

And I was very pleasantly surprised when I checked my mail box.

Next, the cheat sheets should eventually make it out.

Thank you TGC!

Cheers,

You asked for it!

Do you know how hard it is to take your own picture like this?

I had to take the picture with my Nexus 7 and hold it in the right place and then remember to look at the 'camera'.

I must have hit the 'post' button 5 times before I saw the browser actually appear to take it. And, naturally, it manage to multipost it.

EDIT: I updated the original picture to a better size. I hadn't realized how big it was. The resolution on the Nexus 7 is pretty good.

Well, someone who likes to go wild animal spotting (bears, moose, bald eagles, lynxes, foxes and lots of other critters) and who likes beautiful scenery and a place with a whole different attitude than the lower forty eight and who likes the last full service railroad. Oh, and the Northern Lights can be spectacular!

I was lucky enough to get a job with the Alaska Railroad Company. The Alaska Railroad runs the last whistle stop train in the United states. They handle both people transport and freight. And, as far as I know, they are the only railroad that still does both.

We started falling in love with Alaska back in the summer of 2008. By the third visit, it was definite love. By the fourth visit we knew that we wanted to live here. By the seventh, we were determined to be here, no matter what, by summer of 2014. On the last, eighth visit, we decided to buy an RV, sell our house and spend 3 or 4 months driving up with the cats (seeing lots of the country on the way). So, after we bought the RV (a cherry condition 1999 Winebago Brave), I landed the job with AKRR and had to be up here by January. So, I am here and my hubby is back in Virginia. The house has been packed up and our stuff is on the way. He is now doing all the painting and such to get it ready to sell. And I have been getting used to working an 8 to 4 five day a week job after being self-employed for more than 9 years. And, finding some time on weekends to drive around looking for animals and enjoying the scenery.

Well, I had only put the shirt on for the picture. I had been wearing a nice rainbow tie dye shirt. Which I wore to work for 'casual' Friday (the guys at work are casual every day, us ladies reserve the really casual stuff for Friday and I always wear tie dye).

We have had weird weather with it getting warm enough for the roads to get completely clear of ice and snow. But it is getting back to the proper cold stuff now. When it's as cold as it gets lately (2-25 fahrenheit), the snow that comes down is big fluffy light clumps. You can practically blow it off of your car (mine now has that all important remote starter for warming it up).

I will be truely happy once my husband gets up here to enjoy it with me.
