Do some 3d models work faster than others. ie are q3 and hl models faster than direct x models? Or is it just some model formats allow more flexible animation system?

It's enough to make you wonder if your on the right planet!!! or

Im not too sure, someone more experienced in 3d will know, but I do know that .x files allow you to move limbs and deform the mesh (have a look in the sticky thread in the 3d chat forum) which allows you, for example, to turn a character's head while at the same time, playing a running animation.

And I think .3ds files are iffy at the moment. Not sure about the rest.
