I have tried using the copy file syntax, and it works fine for copying a file to other places on the harddrive, but not into the windows/fonts folder.

What happens? Do you get an error?

Anyway, it looks like the font folder is read-only on my machine. Your program will probably need to be run as administrator to modify it.

You can leave it in your app folder and use LOAD FONT. This will make it temporarily available whilst your program runs.

It doesn't give an error, it just doesn't do it. And I don't think permissions are an issue because I can manually drag any font in there and it automatically installs.

I will use LOAD FONT. My documentation is about 8 years old and doesn't list that syntax. My thanks.

Are you sure LOAD FONT is a real command?

I haven't updated my DBP in a while, but this doesn't work for me.

Yes, LOAD FONT doesn't work for me, but I'm using DBPro 6.8. I was using 7.6, but it was too buggy & lacking basic features (unless you CAN split the screen into two parts.. I couldn't find a way to like you can in 6.8).

If LOAD FONT is a new command (I can't find online documentation on it, either), does anybody know if it was possible in older versions to install a font? Is it usually COPY FILE and something is just out of whack on my end?

I'm running 7.7, and I don't have LOAD FONT. Maybe it's a plugin?

EDIT: Permissions can still be an issue. If you are running as an administrator, you can move fonts into the folder, but programs you run don't necessarily have the same permissions.

So DarkBasic has no ability to bypass and/or qualify permissions in order to install fonts? If I wanted to use a font that isn't a standard Windows system font, my ONLY option (given the LOAD FONT command doesn't seem to actually exist) is to paste images of the letters from saved bitmaps?

I suppose I could also include the fonts in a separate folder with instructions to "Do It Yourself, User".

If these are my only options, I am stunned, to put it mildly.

I got the wrong syntax, I don't currently have DBP installed onthis machine. This will get any font from the application folder

set text font get dir$() + "FONTX.TTF"
