Here is a look at mine and Kravenwolf's entry in the Google Nexus Competition so far. We decided we were going to enter this contest from the beginning, but Kravenwolf has been busy with other things almost all of last month so we're basically just now getting started on our entry

This weekend we're pretty much going to work non-stop on the game over Skype to get as much done as we can before Monday. Then that'll give us another week or so to finish things up and submit our entry. Kravenwolf has made some progress already on the artwork, as well as some of the sounds for the game over the past week, so that should help speed things up a bit.

Long weekend ahead. Hopefully, we'll have a video of the gameplay up by this Monday, showing off the progress we made over the next couple of days.



About the Game

Like several other entries, this game was inspired by the popularity of the Flappy Bird model, but we're changing it up enough to make it our own. You'll control a small submarine and travel along the ocean bottom while you avoid hitting oncoming torpedoes by either tapping the screen to ascend, or letting your vessel submerge automatically. Along each run you'll find various power-ups along the way that you can collect, both to boost your score and provide you with a temporary perk that can help you stay in the game longer.

Leaderboards are a planned extra we're going to try to add in, but we're having a slight issue transferring our domain to the new host at the moment, so we'll have to see how that one goes (gonna take a look at that one right after posting, actually).


Anyway, to get things started, here’s a few snapshots from Kravenwolf’s workstation of the artwork he's got done for the game up to this point. There are also a few sketches he did for the art design;
