I was just playing with Particle Illusion v3 and thought it would be really cool if someone made a program like this but for realtime use. Could export code and images. The main different is that instead of exporting a final render it would export behavior and code for DBP so that you could re-create things in realtime.

Just a thought

I have used it, might get back into it shortly, excellent results but a bit fiddly to use...

Site is currently down, and will be updated with new webhost as before Alien Compo. ends.

Level editor does have a built in particle system, though it's not the full thing, just generic effects from the particle system.

Currently the particle system is pretty basic, giving you control over all the particle commands(texture particles,velocity,radius,emissions,make particles,etc.)

Not sure when it will be complete though. The problem is, particles are just so dang slow once you get more than 2 of them in at once. I still may continue it's production once they're sped up, or just release what I have open source when I get my new webpage up.(No guareentees on webpage.)

@Froggermon

That's a really good suggustion. It'd be really nice to implement some particle effects into DBP easily. The problem is getting advanced, and efficient effects which take lots of work. Can't guareentee anything on my own particle editor, but I'd really like to add advanced manipulation of particles.

A book? I hate book. Book is stupid.

I did one. You could change any aspect of the particles, preview it then export to .dba.

I didn't put it back up on my new site though. If you want me to, just say so

If im not mistaken you could only change aspects that the DBP built in particle system supports. Im not a huge fan of the built in particle engine for DBP.

That's the only way you're going to get a particle editor that exported code and images

It's a bit hard otherwise to actually write an entire particle system.
