First Person Camera technology so you can see from your eyes point of view!
Great 3d Landscape
Some buildings

I will post a screenshot tomorrow afternoon, which is Dec 3,2003!!!
So far this may not look or play like a game, because it's in the beta process!! I hope you like the screenshots!!

I will be back tomorrow!!! Got to work some more on the code!

I hate to be a naysayer but I must observe that the Abomb is either a master of sarcasm or has a very short memory. I suspect the former. For those interested in the community's views on the original poster's prior track history check out

http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=20363&b=8

which, in turn, was based on

http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=19957&b=8

Besides, 6.8% done? How on EARTH can anyone be that precise?

I'm sorry but I just noticed that the title "Soul Shooter: Armpit's Revenge" was originally suggested by Divide by Zero as a joke.

Ok. Who'd like to volunteer to explain what an armpit actually is.

I lied about the screenshots, but I do have a demo. It's not much of a game, but I just wanted to see if I can test it out, but I'm having video card problems. I will ask about that in the darkbasic professional or newcomer's corner forum.

@divide by zero-When I was thinking about the version number I put a 1 for version 1 11 for November and 16 for the day 16 and 2003 for the current date. 11/16/03 is date I started on this game!In future version when I revise this game I will have a later date and a version 2! This game will not be perfect, because I'm a newbie. I havealready ordered Darkbasic Pro and I order the 700 page book from Amazon.com and I' m learning step by step!

If this demo don't work just let me know!

All you can demo is just move around, I know people think this is boring, but I'm a beginner!

here is the link to the beta demo

I'm trying desperately to keep a straight face here. Its proving very difficult.

@the desktops, will your game also feature audio-visual entertainment?

haha about the version numbers. Man it's just a 6.8% done statement. I going to have to start over with the code, because it crashed on my and Divide By Zero's computer. I will have to post this game another time, when it's up and ready!

dude you need to put "http://" in order to get your website link to work

oh and btw, you have ALOT more coding to do...this is not ready for the work in progress section. Ill try to point you in the right direction, but don't post here until you have a demo with actual gameplay in it (it can be small, but it should have alot more elements of a game)

@the desktops

I've had a fairly short look at your code. I would've looked at it longer but there wasn't much to look at.

I think I only have one comment.

You've put the decimal point in the wrong place in your 6.8% statement. I think you mean 0.068% done.

Despite my cheeky posts above I would like to encourage you to keep working on it and stick around generally. You've brought much needed humour to these forums so, as far as I am concerned, you're a good lad. Well done to you sir!

In the meantime see attached for my first alpha version of the New Doom. Its also about 0.068% done, or thereabouts.

Shut up. You're making me envious. I play Tron 2.0 in 640x480x16, and I'm running it at 20fps. Fricking yestertech video card...

thedesktops, i know what it's like to be in your position. the reason no one is taking you seriously is because i'd guess that probably thousands of games are "started" by indi programmers each day, yet mostly like twice that are abandoned each day. we have no evidence from you that this is going anywhere at all and in a community of developers who expect screenshots and quite a bit of working code you cannot expect anyone to take you seriously.

sorry for the truth.

Well we all know your having trouble programming the game, but what is Soul Shooter about?

you have only given us the "Features"...

I only have 2 things to say about this...

1) if you had sooo little time to work on this, why did you post it in the Work in progress section?

2)

Desktops - Its apparent you are not ready for the WIP section yet, try and have screenshots ready, and bit more code next time. Judging by your code you have

A very basic landscape (randomize matrix?)
One building
9 Cubes
And what seems to be a copy + pasted shooting code.

Not quite enough for a demo. Try adding in...

Some Actually Great 3D Landscapes (Randomize Matrix Doesnt Count...) more then one building.. some enemies, lighting, BSP type maps, take out spheres for bullets, add in a storyline...and awww jeeze just do everything for a FPS

Make sure you have something more to show next time, as the FPS tutorial that comes with DBP is more complete then this.
