I want to make a character with a cloth shirt that blows around in the wind. I was messing with the Dark Physics command "make cloth from object", and noticed that in the documentation is says this command is not implemented yet. Well, I don't think it's going to be at this point, is there any other way to make cloth from an object that wraps around a character?

I have another idea; since it seems like full physics clothing like a trenchcoat is out of my reach, I was thinking about just having the bottom half of the coat be physics based. There are native commands for physics in DBPro, which are:

(located in dbp folder/editor/keywords/) I've used some of these before, but for this project I'll need the cloth to have collision detection against the character's legs. The commands Make Collision Box, (listed in the code block) etc don't seem to work and there's no examples of these commands. Does anyone have any example code for this?

I've found that the collision boxes are bugged when it comes to cloth interaction, luckily collision spheres work beautifully.

If you bought DBPro in your download section you should see...

I bought dark game studio, I don't seem to have that particular download. Maybe I should email support?

Yeah, you should have it... I have DGS too...

Hope you get an answer in the coming days...

You need to bind the collider to the cloth before they will interact using bind collider to object 2, Flag

Support tells me it's included in the dbpro update. What exactly should I be looking for that's in that particular download anyway?

Cool, that works.

In any event, since the collision looks awful I don't think it's a viable option.

Dang...

Are you not using Dark Physics?

Don't give up on it just yet, as with any physics simulation it takes some experimentation to get realistic results. Ive uploaded a video of the cloth in action, attached to an animated character model in the form of a cape. I hope that it will help you decide if its worth pursuing use of this plugin.

Chaos, custom real time light napping? DL?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking; I have DP but this is the built in cloth system.

@revenant that does look pretty good, do you know if there's a way to increase the triangle count of the cloth?

You specify the dimensions of the material...

If you have Dark Game Studio, you can install and use Dark Physics for the Cloth...

I'm aware. I'd rather not necessitate a physx install for just a piece of cloth if I was to finish and try to market this project.

That scene was using a version of Evolved's (older) Advanced Lighting system, heavily modified and optimized for usage in my project.

The fourth and fifth perimeters of GENERATE RECTANGULAR CLOTH control the cloth's "resolution". In your above snippet it is set to 5colums * 5rows.

Smart move indeed, and this plugin seems to have much better performance.
