Hi all,

Firstly, this app requires VB40032.DLL to run, LLRGT attachment sizes would'nt allow such a huge 350kb zip, so I had to exclude it.

Some of you may have noticed the baggage DBPro leaves in the windows temp directory when running an executable. If you haven't go have a look and see how much space is wasted! - on most DBPro executables it uses about 5mb, everytime you run a DBPro app, whether it's a demo you've downloaded or inside the IDE.

This little prog is designed to sit in your startup directory and it cleans out all the DBP temp folders for you everytime you reboot. Make it a shortcut and specify the windows temp directory as a switch if it's anywhere but ''C:\Windows\Temp'', no inverted commas, your shortcut command might look like:

D:\Program Files\DBTemper.exe D:\Windows\Temp

If your windows directory is simply C:\Windows, then you can just extract the app to your startup directory.

Hmmm, I'll look into that - pretty sure I can find the .dll calls to remove registry keys.

That would be great! The program is already a nice idea, and with that addition it would be indispensible.

On Windows 9X when you right mouse click on a desktop or window icon you get a context driven menu. When uncached it seems to take a longer and longer delay to appear as the registry gets more and more cluttered.

Hi there,

I think you'll need to look through the SDK docs for the following API calls which seem to do what you're after...they all seem to be in the "advapi32.dll" DLL.

RegCreateKeyEx()
RegQueryValueEx()
RegOpenKeyEx()
RegDeleteKey()
RegSetValueEx()
RegCloseKey()

EDIT: Sorry.....these are correct.

I'd like to hear if more people are experiencing this Temp dir flood because I am not. I looked on both drives and only found 1 dbp folder in c:\windows\temp and it only contained about 1 meg of data. I have been using dbp on this machine since august with no changes. Maybe there is some specific issue with certain os's/configs. I would want to investigate further before using a program to trash temp data and registry data.

just my thoughts.

Machine at home has Windows XP Pro, I've used DBPro since May, with no probs in the temp directory.

Machine at work has Windows 2k, had DBPro on it since September, again, no probs in the temp directory.

It kinda wierd, but...

Since I posted the original thread, and deleted over 250 meg of temp dir's, not one temp file has been found since! There must be a very specific circumstance that causes them to not be deleted after each run.

I'm using DBPro to write "Suger Free Candyland", for diabetic children!

same here no probs running dual boot win2k and win98, only coding in dbp off of the win 2k partition - no problems

I get the dbpdata folder residue problem running DBPro in Windows 98SE.

I get the registry clutter problem running DBPro in both Windows 98SE and WindowsXP Home. I've read it's a DirectX8 application specific problem.
