Hi there.

I have drawed a gun in AC3D. Here is a picture of it (from AC3D):

Make notice that the reddot-sight on the top of the gun is a "hollow pipe" that you can see through.

When I load the model into my game I suddenly can't see through the reddot-sight. Picture from DBPro:

Does anyone have a clue why I can't see through it?

The "code" that might be usefull for you:

set camera range 0.01,1000
hide mouse
sync on
sync rate 40

load object "files\weapons\AK4B.x",1 //THE GUN
load object "files\maps\map.x",10 //THE MAP

scale object 1,10,10,10 //I drawed the gun very big in AC3D
scale object 10,200,200,200 //And the map very small

yrotate object 1,90 //Rotates the gun so that it points in the right direction
position object 1,0.4,-0.6,3.3 //Positions it at the right coordinates
lock object on 1

do

control camera using arrowkeys 0,1,1

sync
loop

Yeah, AC3D always did that to me when I did boolean operations.

Did you cut the hole in the scope using boolean operations?

Unfortunately, there is no easy fix to this problem. The best thing you can do is re-model the scope by extruding a cylinder instead. Just make a cylinder without caps, select the extrude tool, select all surfaces of the cylinder and extrude it (make sure to uncheck the "remove old surfaces" option), then scale the new selection down so it fits inside the cylinder.

Thank you for the answer!

I followed theese steps:

One tube size to x=0.8, y=0.8, z=5
One tube size to x=0.6, y=0.6, z=5

Move both to 0/0/0

Take the inner tube, and flip normals

Mark both tubes and merge them.

Create new surfaces at the edge of both tubes

And after that I deleted the center of the "circles".

I will try your method!

The other thing you could try is to make sure you're exporting the surfaces as one-sided and not double-sided and in DBP make sure culling is turned on so only one side is drawn.

That's pretty much all the advice I can give you based on the information you provided. If you still run into problems after that, you can always upload the model so we can take a closer look at it.

It looks like you created a scope with a transparent group of polygons but did not set the object's transparency to enabled in DarkBASIC using Set Object Transparency.

Thanks for the answers. TheComet:s method worked fine, by extruding a cylinder.

So far the only thing I know about this AC3d is that everybody seems to be having trouble using the models they've made in it.

Sorry, but I've used AC3D for over 5 years myself and next to blender it is the best modeling tool for static geometry out there.
