Hey, I'm thinking about getting App Game Kit 2 but Google Play Services (Achievements, Leaderboard, OnlinePlay?) would be a key feature for me.

Any chances we'll get API functions for using Google Play Services (just like AdMob)?

i believe it was not part of the kickstarter project for v2.
also it did not fit into the code once scheme.
other people here using a web server with php or something.

Many of us have been asking for this as it is becoming increasingly popular. Hopefully enough of us will ask for this that Paul can get it in for us. It would be a huge boon for game devs and right now we can do some of the functionality with HockeyKid's mods, but it isn't enough.
Web server with PHP is what we're using, but the social features of Google Play services are much more verbose and even helps your ranking in the store.

We also need OpenIAB which will allow us to use alternative stores for our apps such as Amazon, Samsung, and SlideMe.

Hopefully Paul will be able to listen to our pleas!

Right now I'm using Unity and there's seemingly a plugin for everything. My first Android game has achievements and leaderboards and as much as I'd like to take a step away from Unity, I just don't want to leave those features behind.

Also: what about Amazon GameCircle? And can AppGameKit make use of gamepads with Android (Fire TV)?

eah, the Unity plugin architecture is really nice and I don't think AppGameKit will be going that way anytime soon. I've been torn between AppGameKit and Unity because of the plugin features of Unity. With AppGameKit I feel like I have a bit more control of the coding, but with Unity I have a lot more options.
There's only support for iOS Game Center at the moment. As far as gamepads, AppGameKit works with OUYA, but no clue about Fire TV.

It just ignores Android specific code. No Google Play Service, no AdMob Ads, etc.

The thing is: Unity is quite expensive. We've got Unity Pro at our company, but additional 1200 euro for the android exporter? Not going to happen, since I'm doing the Android stuff in my freetime.

If you have set input for PC then yes, you can. That way I playtested my Android games.
