Hi,

What file converter would be best to convert -

3ds to .x (with texture and animation)

Any decent 3d modelling program can do that.

Alternately, I believe DBPro even has a command for that: 3ds2x

nit sure there is a direct command. you can obviously smve any object into

DBpro .dbo format or you can save the object as mesh into .x but in the case of mesh you will loose texture.

The attached converter will retain the animations of 3DS files.
(I'm not sure if this is TGC's converter or an indie one, the author isn't identified.)

It will convert any 3DS files found in its own directory, so I always make sure to move old ones out first to avoid wasting time.

Enjoy!

The Comet, I can't find this 3DS2X File convert command you speak of.

On my install there's an app called "ModelConverter.exe" in the Editor folder. I don't see any harm in attaching it here...

It's probably undocumented for DBpro, you know how quirky it is.

I do remember that command in DBClassic though. (digs out DBClassic manual) assuming the parameters are probably the same it should be:

3ds2x filename$, filename$

Nope, that one is DBC-exclusive for some reason.

I didn't know you could animate a 3ds object. What program does that? 3d studio max?
