Well i don't know about the Extended System, all i know is that Service Pack 2 released back in July for Windows XP 64Bit fully supports the Opteron and Athlon64 FX processors.
Before that they showed up as AthlonXP 3200+ with an unknown family stepping.
and why would i put the specs to all 5 of my systems within my signature?
i simply put the one i actually play games on. the rest of my systems are PURE working machines, no games, no unprotected networking, specifically setup with firewire lan so they can work realtime and be used as render farms.
Current specs of each of my systems;
Athlon64 FX-51 (oc 2.8ghz ~4.0ghz) | 1.5gb | FX5950 ultra 52.20 | Dx 9.10 | WXP-64 (Alienware's Aurora)
Quad Opteron 420 (oc 2.0ghz ~16ghz total) | 2gb onboard 8gb PCI | SLi QuatroFX 3000G 512mb | Dx 9.02 | WS-03, Solaris
Dual Itainium2 800 8mb Cache Edition 3.0Ghz | 3.0gb | Radeon9800XT 256mb Cat4.0.D | Dx 9.02 | WS-03, Red Hat 9.0
G4 2.0ghz | 1gb | FX5700 ultra 52.10 | Optimised Ref Lib (ORL) 6.3 | MacOSX
plus this machine which is my regular
i don't particularly need alot of power on this machine itself for development because i use Maya6, Photoshop8, Max6 ... all of which are capable of running as Network Nodes from another machine, so all this one has to do is actually display what is being used.
