I have tried a lot of free Fonts, most of them do not work in DB Pro, some are crap and when they work they have strange licenses. So, my question is, if somebody has tried AppGameKit Font Packs in DB Pro, do they work? and are they useable ?

Cheers from Germany.

Hi,

I made those packs. They are designed specifically to work with AGK. The only way to use them is to treat the images as sprite maps and display them that way. The text is jumbled for each font I'm afraid so there's no pattern between the maps which means you'll have to locate the positions manually and call them.

It's a lot of work and I wouldn't recommend it.

Is there something about AppGameKit that required the text to be jumbled? If there are efforts being made to make it hard for DBP users from benefitting from media developments primarily made for other TGC products, it would be a nice gesture to make this known. I recall that when certain media assets for the first version of FPS came out, there was actually a huddle over whether DBP users were entitled to use them. There are actually DBP users, such as myself, who contributed ("backed") what was then billed as FPS Reloaded with no intention or desire to ever use that program, but rather because it was being written and developed in DBP, and DBP was therefore likely to get some beneficial upgrade we could use.

Yeah the image mapping tool that comes with it optimizes the graphics for size and space then writes out a co-ordinate file. It produces the best graphics quality and saved me a lot of work.

I never considered DBPro for these packs simply because DBPro has the ability to load fonts where as AppGameKit doesn't. I didn't think there was enough of a market to make the extra development worth it.
