Hi,

Today we have put V-Packer 2.0 on Steam Greenlight.

With V-Packer you can build a single executable from your software projects including games and application files, featuring a virtual file system, icon support, password protection, 32- and 64bit support and more features.

Note: this product contains a new run-time engine which is optimized for games and applications.

Everything you would want in a packing application is here in V-Packer. First off, you don’t need admin privileges to run it, which is always a plus. Then there’s compression, automatic saves, and your choice of splashscreen image for your application’s loading screen.

I've got Smart Packer Pro and we recently had some correspondence about SPPX. I'm still interested in Purchasing it but now I see V-Packer. What is the major difference between SPPX and V-Packer?

Hi Kenneth,

Smart Packer Pro (X) has more features like project config file, plug-in system and compatibility level support. Also the new version which will be soon available will have some nice extra features (free for registered customers).

V-Packer 2.0 is optimized for games but can also be used for applications. For people who doesn't need all the Smart Packer Pro (X) features V-Packer is the perfect solution.

We had some request about tracking usage of packed executables. So we would like to know if you need this functionality.

Please give your thoughts/opinion on vpacker.com (discussions).

Like how many times it is run?

I think such features should come with an option for the end user or your tool would likely be breaking a number of privacy laws for certain...

Do tell more...

Also I think I have voted... As I was only able to find the page on SteamPowered web not inside steam however... No idea why. And the website was unclear if I had voted or not but yeah... Is there a deadline?

Hi,

Yes how many times it is run, duration of the process, system specs, which user, language and much more.

This information (probably json format) can for example be send out via mail or stored in a database (via external script).

Of course the privacy laws are ruling. In V-Packer we could show an license/privacy agreement form which the end-user can accept or decline.

This feature is still in concept fase so please don't hesitate to give suggestions and/or remarks.


About Steam. There is no deadline but how faster and more votes V-Packer gets the chance will grow that it will be available on Steam.

Tracking... Good! Glad to hear that keep it going and I hope my other feedbacks have been useful as usual still waiting on that progress bar
