I got a 2007 BMW 328i SULEV coupe about a month ago and it seems like every 0-60 test I do I get around 7-8 seconds instead of BMW's advertised 6. This is on a smooth road with DSC off and in sport mode.

I do have pretty big rims on the car which are about 19 inches, maybe this is the main issue. Any other ideas as to why my times are not typical? BMW usually under-reports speed and power on their cars and I've heard of people getting even under 6 seconds for their 0-60 times so it's strange that there would be such a huge difference in my times. Attahced is a pic of the car and rims.

Very possible, that car's stock rims are 17" so the 2" increase in diameter should technically impact the acceleration. Here's a good explanation http://www.4x4abc.com/4WD101/math_wheels.html

Also, since the car is 8 years old you could use a fuel additive to help clean out the carbon in the engine and fuel injectors. Something like this could help: http://www.amazon.com/Lucas-Oil-10512-System-Cleaner/dp/B003JTYGPO/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1430367593&sr=1-1

I don't know much about performance vehicles in particular, but I do know that as engines age, they do indeed lose some horsepower. Not sure if eight years would make that difference or not.

Your car isn't brand new. Probably needs a tune up. It may not even be making the same amount of HP it did when it was new.

Also, manufacturers probably use professional racers to time their cars. So maybe you just suck at launching?
