Hi, anyone got a bit of advice about in-app purchases or links to the app store for upgraded software?

I am planning ahead to release the full version of Paint Pot on the Android store for a nominal fee and thought of updating the Lite version to include a button that when pressed would upgrade the Lite version to the full version or to take you to the Google App page of where the full version can be bought

I have not used either of these features before so any advice would be good but also my problem is that young kids will be using the software and I want it to be secure and not let them buy the full version by accident. This is why I was thinking of maybe a link to the Google App page where security settings will already be in place for kids instead of an in-app purchase.

What do you think?
Any code examples?

I was thinking of replacing the Help button on the menu of the Lite version as the link so that when it updates, everyone who had already downloaded the Lite version will also know the full version is available.

The easiest method would be to link to your paid app. For this, just use OpenBrowser() with the url to your paid app... Simples

I used IAP a while a go and probably still have the code for it somewhere. If you decide to go down that route, let me know and I'll try to dig it up...

Cheers Funnell7 for the tip, I think that will be the best method all round as Paint Pot Lite has just been accepted for designed for families on the Google Store so if I start messing with in app purchases it might cause problems.
Also I guess it would be better for kids because parents normally set security settings on kids devices and passwords so the App store will then take care of all the problems with buying by mistake etc

Cheers again and as always the simple methods are normally the best

Well i suggest to do some test, and decide after some months of statistics.
This is why i suggest always to have a server to save statistics.
