Hi Rob,
Getting on really well with BlueIDE now. Just have one niggle. Every time I get an error, the highlited line is always 1 line below the line containing the error. It's not a big problem just thought I'd post about it here.

Does this happen even with very simple projects?

On further investigation, it seems the main source file of your project it gets the correct line but any further sources that get added are one line further after the error. (Doesnt matter how many sources there are, its always 1 line after the error)

Hi again,
A small feature request. Could it be possible to add line-wrapping to the print option and also the ability to print the entire source?

Cheers,

Jas

Hi. I´ve just installed BIDE RC4 and when I launched it it came up with runtime error 13(my lucky number) type mismatch. That little window with the green bar in it gets stuck a quarter of the way through and the main window opens up with varios bars misplaced. I´ve installed the common controls libary and nothing changed. I haven´t got visual basic 6, I´ve got win xp pro spanish version. I hope you can squash the bug as this IDE sounds very nice.

Rob, just come accross another problem, if you try to save a file that is read only, instead of it just saying "Permission Denied" and carrying on, you get a runtime error and it crashes back to desktop. I've just installed a source control system that makes files read-only until you check them out which is why i've just found the problem.

Cheers,

Jas

Just wanted to let you know .... The scroll bar not updating with the mouse wheel was caused by my logitech mouse drivers. It works great with my new mouse.

auto case setting(?)

If I set a variable as Global when i enter that variable into the IDE later it will set its case in the same way as when I entered into the global statement - which is GREAT!

But can it be done with #constants aswell?

Also is there a way to do it with reserved words? For example:

load object would become Load Object
and
createwindow would become CreateWindow

Thanks

When I use the plugin infomation viewer on a plugin and then try to repace the plugin with a new version I get an
"can not copy file: The requested operation can not be perfomed on a file with a user-mapped section open"
After I close blueIde it works fine.

Quote: " I just installed RC4, and my "Searchable Help" is no longer functioning. Is there anything I can do to fix this?"

Are you using win2k? The reason it doesn't work in win2k is because blue ide attemps to run the help file with "c:\windows\hh.exe", with win2k that file is in c:\winnt\hh.exe so it doesn't work.

If you have vb6 you could find the line in the source and change it.
I just moved the dbp.chm file into the blueide\tools dir. You can then run it by going to Tools > programs > dbp in the main menu.

Every time I open my current project I get a "Error 13: Type Mismatch". The editor is all over the place, with loads of empty space to the bottom and right. I have reconstructed the dbpro file, saved, reopened, and it's still the same error.

..but it's fixed.

It created a file called crashon_08_06_04.txt. Once I deleted it, everything worked fine again.

Hi

I have recently reformatted and now I can't get BlueIDE working!
I have downloaded the latest version (rc4) and installed it but evertime I try to run it I get the following error message:

Component 'TABCTL32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid'

I have no idea what that means but I have been using BlueIDE for so long that the original editor seems very poor by comparison.

Please, can anyone help?

Thanks

Hey RobK,
Question, When i run the update keywords it always comes up with "Run-time Error '5':
Invalid Procedure Call or Argument"
after the bar is completly filled, then it says "keywords updated. please close and restart the editor." then it simply exits. Now i don't have a problem with that, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I've installed advanced terrain, and regestered it for the full version but it never seems to update those commands although there recognized by the compiler, but BlueIDE doesn't recognize them and highlight them, just thought i'd let you know since i havn't seen somthing like this come up before, and it is kinda anoying.

Thanks,

Found a quick fix for the keywords.

If blue fails to highlight or comes up with syntax errors:

open the BIDEkeywords.ini file from the darkbasic pro/editor/keywords folder

Replace == with = =

seems to get highlighting up again.

Hi there!

I was using Blue to build my game, but from two weeks now, I cannot use it anymore because each time I run the game, Blue Finds errors that doesn't exists... I get errors on a whole part that works correctly under DBpro Editor.
I checked hundreds of time but I still get the same error....

Strange stuff.. also because the problems came without any changer in Blue...

What are the errors? I get strange errors if I try to include a file that isn't in the right location or isn't the right include I was thinking of.

I doubt RobK's still working on this, but just for the sake of documenting a bug. The issue Freddix was having (earlier in this thread) where the editor looked very messed up and wouldn't work properly is caused by entering the incorrect location to the DBP installation folder in the Options Dialog. Unfortunately, once you've entered an incorrect location and the bug surfaces, you can no longer access the options. The only way I could solve this was by opening the source code and hacking my way to the Options dialog so I could re-enter the correct path, I should also mention that a following "\" on the end of the DBP path will also cause problems.

Yeah, I doubt anyone cares lol.

A bug that I have found is with the new enhancement pack. When you try to use any of the speech(or zip) commands the editor will crash, but if the commands are already typed outside of the editor BlueIDE works fine.

@Exeat

My understanding, for what it is worth, is that RobK does not consider BlueIDE to be dead. During the Con he was using a more advanced version than those publicly available. He said that at some point he'll even complete it and release a v1.0 version.

Incidentally, I've got a BlueIDE bug I want to report. My project is set to compile on Full Screen Exclusive and 1024 x 768. BlueIDE loads these settings in automatically. However, the first time you compile, BlueIDE ignores the settings and instead defaults to a windowed mode with a different resolution. Hence I've found that when you first open an existing project, you have to go to the screen settings area and manually reset FSEX / 1024 x 768, i.e. you change those settings to a different setting and then change them back again.

Hope RobK fixes this one. Its a bit aggravating.

Hi Philip,

Can you post a step-by-step for replicating this one as I can't reproduce the problem here.

I'll probably release an update some time early next year to resolve the bugs in the current RC.

Hi RobK

Basically I find it happens everytime I open a new project. All my projects are set to Full Screen Exclusive, 1024 v 768 x 32m colours.

If I open such a project then try and compile it, it tries to compile in windowed mode.

I'm going back to my London flat (and my desktop computer) tomorrow. I'll email you a very small project as an example for you to try.

Is it possible that you have already fixed this problem in the version of BlueIDE you are running? I have a vague idea it may have been mentioned before by someone else?

Cheers

Oh yes, this mystical 'Con', that no one has any evidence of, and that no one can prove that it ever took place. It is but a mere scapegoat that has haunted my dreams since the dawn of time... Will we ever see a product that has been produced by this Con? Will it live up to expectations? And more importantly, will it come with a free box of steak knives? We may never know...

I've just emailed to you a small project which, at least with my version of BlueIDE, demonstrates the problem.

Basically it seems to be that every time you open a project, the IDE defaults back to windowed mode.

Hi Philip,

I tested the project you sent me in both the currently available RC4, and the development version, and the problem did not manifest itself.

What version are you using? (A good indication of whether it is an 'early' beta or a 'later' beta is whether the program icon is a pyramid (Newer) or just a blue background (Older) )

1) Media Browser will not load from the IDE

The IDE is looking for "Media Browser.exe" ! It does not exist.
Try renaming browser.exe to Media Browser.exe or, change it in the source code(as I did,(frm.main)) and recompile.

Hi, Rob.

I found a few things you need to look into:

1) Bookmarks still get erased every time I save a file.
2) I ordered and installed the DBPro Enhancement pack and rebuilt
the keywords and got a run-time error 5. When typing "CREATE FILE
BLOCK", the IDE gave me a run-time error 9 "Subscript out of range"
and then BlueIDE exits to Windows.
3) When splitting the source window, saving the file when in the
bottom portion of the screen causes the text cursor to go to the
top of the file but scrolling with the arrow keys will bring the
cursor back to the original location.
4) After compiling and running the cose, BlueIDE sets the text
cursor to line 1 of the code.

Aside from these bugs, I definately prefer BlueIDE to the old
editor. Can you fix these things? Thanks. I am using BlueIDE RC4 and the v1 test stuff.

Robert,
I just found out why the update keyword menu causes problems with the Enhancement Pack:
The format used by DBPro for keywords is "command=webpage.htm=parameter list".
The Enhancement Pack's .ini keyword file does not use .html files so
it looks like this: "command==parameter list". As you can see,
there are two equal signs together so you will need to check for zero-length
strings when parsing for keywords. Also be sure to check for empty lines (just CR/LF) as well.
I hope that this helps.
