Awesome banner by MrValentine!

Heeelllllloooooo everybody!

As many of you are aware, during the first month of the new year we hold event called NaGaCreMo (interNational Game Creation Month), which is usually only held once a year.

As your forum President, I think we should host it again in the summer!

Making a pledge to complete a game is a great way to stay motivated for programming, and developing your own titles.

This time around, we will hold it from August 1st to August 31st. That means you have an entire month to tell your friends, come up with many ideas for the game you want to make during that month, and maybe even get a jump start...

As with usual NaGaCreMo events, there are no winners. Everybody wins when they make a pledge to create something! Double personal feel-good points when you complete your project 110%!

There are no real rules. You can use literally any development engine you want, and you can post your WIP threads over on the dedicated NaGaCreMo board!

So what are you waiting for? Make your pledge today!

To make a pledge, simple state the following in your post:

I, [name], pledge to create a working game, game demo or other application within the month of August 2015

Currently, we have this many people who have pledged!

We will need a banner for forum signatures so that other forum members may learn about this event. Anybody want to take a stab at making one?

Official Forum President from June 20th, 2015 - June 20th, 2016 (when my successor is elected, whomever that may be!).

Looks good DJD64!

I made one slight change that I hope you don't mind!

Egads, the 2015 part is off center! I shall adjust it. Or make a design on my own.

Excellent! I was wanting to add 2015 as well, just didn't know where. That's perfect!

I also think a few others should be made as well, to foster some more creativity here, and also to give people some selection when they choose a banner to indicate their participation in the event!

I like them both, although I think and thus DB32Dude (yadamans edit) looks more tidy and easier to read.

I like the Yoda edit banner, but would probably do the year in white instead of orange, for readability and to keep the original color scheme

MrV I really like this design of yours!

Any chance you could possibly make a larger version to act as the banner of this thread?

Well guys, I asked for this thread to be featured in this month's edition of the newsletter but it looks like it didn't make it in. Oh well.

That just means I need YOU to go around and tell other people about NaGaCreMo Summer Edition! Please, if you have made a pledge, update your signature to any of the above NaGaCreMo images and link back to this thread!

Yodaman Jer, thank you, what dimension? [Width]

I would say probably about 150px bigger in both directions. Just enough to really get attention!

How's this?

Just a tad too big I think. On my QHD monitor it's fine but for someone at anything less than 1080p it might stretch the page.

HOw about something no wider than 800 pixels just to be safe?

Now, a bit of constructive crit here, the text looks a tad blurry and the shadow beneath it looks a tad pixelated. If those issues could be fixed, that design would look pretty neat. Maybe add a little color too, that would be neat. Overall good though!

Indeed, it does seem to be highly compressed. Otherwise the size is perfect! Thank you so much MrValentine for the effort!

I cannot figure out right now how to fix the blurry-ness...

Adjusted anyway

EDIT

I used my hunch and exported it at 300DPI making it 2500x750 and then reducing the image in an image editor to 800x240 width with lancos reduction...

Sweet!

I am still cleaning up and arranging my workspace... I might make my pledge to do with my 3D modelling studies maybe... Perhaps make a free model pack for everyone to download?...

Oh goodness everybody, sorry I completely forgot I had tried to start this...

SO many things came up in July (mother being diagnosed with a brain tumor/colon cancer, thankfully the brain tumor has been removed and doctors are confident they can remove the colon cancer) that I just completely forgot.

I think maybe, since Ludum Dare is going on anyway, NaGaCreMo is better saved as a once-a-year event after all.

Well I think the cancer of a family member is more than good enough reason to have forgotten a little something like this.

@spectrepaul Now that I have my iPad back, I want to check out your new app! Once I get back to it tomorrow, that is.

Lol, well it just got rejected due to a button linking to my other apps on the iOS store.
Just need to put in a parental screen after pressing the link and all will be well I think

Will upload a new version soon with the parental control

Just making sure you're quoting the right person -- Yodaman Jer, not me, is the one who had a family member with cancer, unfortunately. Fortunately, said family member of his is currently doing well, to the best of my knowledge.
