Hi all. I figured it would be a great time to have some sort of graphical design contest. At first, I was thinking a desktop background contest would be neat, but then I thought, why not make it really open? So this here contest is for just about anything you want to create. Desktop backgrounds, forum signatures (especially for the upcoming Summer NaGaCreMo), forum avatars, perhaps even forum banners or 3D model textures! That list isn't conclusive either; if there's literally anything else you want to make, feel free to do so and post it here.

What makes this a contest? Sometime, we will have a vote as to who submitted the best work, and I believe Yodaman and I would like the winner to receive some sort of 2D design badge.

We would like the contest to promote the TGC community, so TGC themed work would be excellent, however not absolutely necessary. Here are some helpful guidelines that don't have to be strictly followed:
- All work should be TGC themed
- Desktop backgrounds should be made in a variety of common resolutions
- Forum banners should (if they are to be used) follow these guidelines:
> - Be professional but entertaining in nature
> - Be saved in the png format
> - Fade smoothly to black on the left side (if the banner isn't otherwise black)
> - Be 459x60 in resolution
- No copyrighted work should be used in your work, unless it's your own
- All work should be super awesome

Well that's that! It's all pretty open. Just have fun and be creative!

Ah, that looks sweet! Seems I forgot to say that here, then the thread just kept on going down the board (not that it went very far).

Do any other folks have any submissions? Perhaps I should get working on one...

I figured I made something unintentionally offensive and everyone thought "awkward..." and moved on.

I officially am stuck for creative design.......

I wanted to put some code in the background but currently have not much that I could put...

Let me know if you want me to just link the image... comes in around 7.92MB 1920x1080

I am struggling to figure out why the shadow elements cause so much jaggedness...

wattywatts I love your art! You should create a TGC Wallpaper Pack!

Ooooh that's a fun idea for this thread! See who could create the best TGC Themed Wallpaper! It provides clear conditions and goals for the contest. How does that sound?

Eh, that sort of goes against the point of this thread. The point of this thread is to be a really open, general graphical design contest. However, I think a competition for best TGC themed wallpaper held within the context of this thread is a great idea.

Here's mine! It's 1440p, and looks ugly when compressed any smaller (sad since I don't have any 1440p screens ). So it is attached to the post!

That background hurts my eyes

Here is my entry - there was a certain effect I was going for but I couldn't quite get it. Will try again when I have more time!

It hurts mine too...

Because of the way Firefox loads images (loads them multiple times, each time in increasing quality), I didn't realize that the image wasn't yet fully loaded, and was about to come here and say, "Compression gone wild!"

But! Now that it's fully loaded, it looks pretty neat.

That mesh overlay....... O.O

It was an attempt to make it look like a screen - the goal I was going for was a shattered screen effect, and I was going to try to make the logo look like it burst through your screen. But I just couldn't get it to look right so I added colors and a few other abstract colors just to see what I could come up with!

Probably could have taken the mesh overlay out though.

Ah wow yeah, doesn't quite look like that... But, if you did manage to make it look like that, it would be pretty awesome.

You want to use perspectives for that effect...

I have an idea for another piece, might work on it later tonight...

EDIT

Some slight mind bending further as that now looks like the main theme here

Around 5.94MB 1920x1080

This is a rough draft of the idea I mentioned earlier...
