Hi all,

I posted this also on AppGameKit Facebook page, but decided to put it here, as well...

I have a bit of a problem with AppGameKit 2 Tier 2 VS2015 project (Steam version) on Windows 10 (Pro) 64-bit.

After installing Visual Studio 2015 Community edition, I copied to the template project to my preferred location, I opened the project and modified paths for includes and dependencies and built it successfully. However, when I tried to start the built application with and without debugging, Visual Studio threw an error stating it can't open the application in that current path/location.

I tried again, but now with the template being in its original location, within Steam directory. I faced the same error. Then I copied the project to my home directory and tried once more, cleaning and rebuilding the project. No, the same error pops up. In each location I previously had the project in, I tried to edit the path properties and allow all access from System, Administrator and User. This didn't help either but still, the project builds fine but I can't launch the compiled binary.

Have any of you faced similar issues? Should I install different version of Visual Studio, or can someone give tips what permissions I should give on each particular user group for the project directory to make this work?

Thanks in advance!

Firstly, I would check if Visual Studio creates an exe, and secondly can it be run outside of Visual Studio?

Hi Paul,

Yes, Visual Studio seems to be able to create an exe since VS error prompt states that it is unable to launch <path to Tier 2 project>/Final/Template.exe. When trying to manually launch the application outside VS, Windows throws an error that it can't access the device or path. These errors happen regardless of the project location (Steam default path, home folder or custom path on another hard disk).

What is the exact wording of the error message? If you right click the exe and choose properties are there any options that suggest Windows is preventing the exe from running for security reasons?

EDIT: I was able to fix it just after I replied... It was my antivirus software that prevented it from launching.

Ok, here are the error messages I'm receiving.

This one I get if I try to launch my app from Visual Studio: "Unable to start program <path-to-app>. Usage(?) prohibited"

And this one I get if I try to launch the app from Windows manually: "Windows cannot access the specified device path or file you may not have the appropriate permissions."

I've been trying to Google it and change permissions of the application, launched it as an administrator but nothing seems to help.
