Hello!

What is the difference between AppGameKit and DarkBasic? So far I got the impression that AppGameKit is an updated version of DarkBasic.

In Darkbasic, you can make games/applications for PC. It's more or less in its mature form.

In AppGameKit, you can make games for PC, Mac, Android, IOS.
Also AppGameKit uses voodoo magic to transfer the apps temporarily to your devices over Wifi, which enable you to test the apps, just like that.
No need for headache setting up SDK's for different platform.
Although it's very usable in its current satte, but its still in the process of maturation.

DarkBASIC - 2000 ->
DarkBasic Pro - 2002 ->
DBPro is DirectX based, PC Only. It's very capable, with a lot of functionality to assist with 3D development and a lot of plugins for AI, Physics, Light mapping, 3D Maths etc. It is capable of 2D but this is more of a secondary feature set.

AGK - 2011 ->
A subset of the DBPro features, probably closer to the earlier releases of DBPro. Following the same lifecycle, whereby it becomes more functional with each release. Although it is more limited than DBPro, it also has features that DBPro never had, such as OpenGL, cross-platform deployment, Bitmap fonts, text boxes, Box2D Physics as standard etc.

AGK has built in 3D physics using the famous Bullet Physics library.
