Today we have released a new version of CodeBase that supports AppGameKit code snippets.

We plan to continue to improve the CodeBase system with the aim of it becoming the home of code snippets for AGK.

If you have suggestions of features you would like to see post them here and I will work to get them implemented.

You can add new code snippets via your TGC account page, any user that has passed post approval on the forums can create code snippets.

At the moment it is under the community menu in the top right of the TGC website. Or you can get to it directly here https://www.thegamecreators.com/codebase

There are lots of rubbish codebase entries that need deleting: Spam, garbage etc... Do the mods have codebase mod privileges?

The forums mods will soon have access to codebase moderation for now it is staff only, I am aware some of the old entries are spam we haven't had time to go through them yet.

A thumbs up or thumbs down feature would be nice too see how helpful the snippet was to others.

Ability too leave feedback would be nice.

+1 for that!

That's how many other forums rate user code.
Perhaps have the most useful (highest rated) ones floated to the top of the list.

I think the instruction for adding an entry needs to be more prominent. It's early morning so things are still blurry, but I struggled to find the instruction

My last codebase entry - 5 Jan 2004!!!

How do you know when your last entry was?
Is there a way to search by user?

[Scratch that] - I found it by going to the submit code page on my account (Sept 2007 for me). I agree with Batvink though, the option to submit code should really be on the same page as the CodeBase itself.
And since we can only see our own code entries from our account, it would be nice to have a search by user function in place. I can think of a number of users whose code entries I'd like to look at but no idea what they called them.

I have added a thumbs up and down feature, sorting by rating will be added once I have collected some ratings. As for leaving comments this will be added in future.

I have also added a clearer add new entry button to the codebase page, so that should avoid confusion.

I plan to have the ability to search by user as well, possibly a button on forum profiles that links to a list of codebase entries by that user.

You can now leave comments as long as you aren't on any sort of post moderation on the forums.

Sorting the list by code type does not seem to work.

If you mean searching by language type it seems to work for me.

If I leave the search terms empty, and select a language, I get...

DBPro - lots of results
AGK Basic - 1 result
AGK C++ - 0 results

But maybe the search isn't designed to simply act as a language filter?

That is how it is meant to work.

There is currently only 1 AppGameKit BASIC entry and no AppGameKit C++ entries, any other AppGameKit entries are listed as AppGameKit V1 and won't show up in language filters unless I add an option to show AppGameKit V1 entries. If the other entries are for AGK2 they are incorrectly listed at the moment.

OK, that makes sense, thanks!
I think you have accidentally implemented filtering by having a blank search string

Could it be filtered by AppGameKit V1 Basic or AppGameKit V2 Basic?
Just getting one result for AppGameKit when you search is a little disappointing.

I will aim to remedy that this weekend by adding some code

Hi

Thank you for this improvements.
I have posted some codes (in 2014). I have changed one of them, the langage selection is now AGK2Basic, but it doesn't appear when I search for AGKbasic code ^^. How must I do to see the code when I search AppGameKit code ?
You should add the old AppGameKit basic code
