Well there was the AppGameKit Pi version - that is due for release soon I think.

and I did hear some exciting news from TGC concerning AppGameKit, but I won't spoil that suprise - I'll let TGC announce that

The only news I'd be interested in hearing about AppGameKit is that they are finally getting around to completing all of the command sets.
The ones that have a 'token gesture' of support simply so that they can advertise AppGameKit as supporting it - until you actually try to use it for anything other than the absolute basics.

That's off the top of my head - there's probably others.

I've been a supporter of TGC for a long time but the way AppGameKit is being falsely advertised (let's be honest, that's what this is) is really causing me to lose hope that it will ever be anything other than a very basic hobbyists introduction to programming rather then a genuine solution. I've had a game almost complete and ready for the app store for nearly a year but it can't be finished without some of the above command sets having more functionality. So it's just sat on my hard drive doing nothing and I really think it might be time to move on and find an alternative coding platform.
It's a real shame. I love using AppGameKit but the current lack of support is incredibly frustrating.

Don't turn this thread into a TGC bashing. Personally I think the support is good. Especially for v18 and the RaspberryPi beta version support was excellent.

I think there has been great progress on AppGameKit over the past year.

I would agree, the support and updates have been good this year, though I think the best possible news we could get is that AppGameKit is going Open Source.

Nobody is bashing TGC, just pointing out the facts.
You can continue pretending that everything is rosy or you can point out that half complete command sets are not acceptable and then maybe something will be done about it.

Personally i find agk v2 very complete. I think the 3d is perfect and the collision system in place is amazing. I dont need to pretend everything is rosey... Because it is.

I've heard the rumours, but to be honest I don't think a dev team should cross-dress on prime time TV as a cheap marketing gimmick.

Sorry to read that SITDS. I was very enthuastic about using AGK2 now. But if they have no interest to enhance important features... and physics is one of them... then it shows where their priority is. Definitely not AGK2.

I've actually been out of the loop on things for a good while and I'm reading about a lot of people talking about AGK2... Is that something that's out? Or is that what this thread is about? I can't find any links to it in the shop, but lots of people are talking about it as if they're using it...

@CumQuaT: AGK2 is definitely a new product, or rather, a continuation of the original AGK. TGC launched a Kickstarter-campaign in 2013 to help fund it. While they made most stretch-goals (new IDE, debugger, animation, 3D, physics etc.), the actual implementation has been slower than anticipated.

I do like the current version though, I feel it is really complete and very powerful. A good base for future improvements and iterations!

It is improving all of the time. It is easy to focus on one feature and think that nothing is happening.
This week we got the Raspberry Pi platform. This is HUGE. As CJB says, there are other BIG announcements coming very soon. (by the way, we are not special people. But if you are willing to give some of your time to testing things like the Pi release, you sometimes hear about other developments)
You can't do everything straight away.

And again, a perfect example of lack of communication. They can communicate all kind of things for GG. But it takes some rambling to get some info for AGK2 and its progress. So don't be surprised if people make up their minds on their own and try to put 1+1 together. I am happy about the info Richard gave. Quite a list of fixes. That is great. That shows that the product is supported in some form or the other.

Shame, but true. All the commotion over not developing 3D Physics any further totally spoiled the whole HTML announcement. I'm fully, full on excited for that HTML5 bad boy! My website is gonna be all 1995 geocities, but with AppGameKit HTML5 stuff!

I'm talking garish colours, far too many animated gif files, the works! lol

http://www.wonder-tonic.com/geocitiesizer/ Ahhh, the memories!
This is what the TGC website would have looked like in 1995!!!
