How does it work? Does AppGameKit actually translate the code into "browser" code (my lingo) or does it use a VM like java?

i guess its a mix of html and java script for any browser.

It is native HTML5 and depends on WebGL, which browsers have increased support of over the past couple of years (since the original Freedom Engine experiment). Because the core AppGameKit language is powered by OpenGL / OpenGL ES, it is not much of a jump to WebGL.
