Hey. I am currently using .wav for my app. However, a 45 second music file is almost 4mb when I compress it to 22050 Hz. Is it because of the music format? I do not use MP3 because of this reason here http://mp3licensing.com/royalty/games.html What should I use that agk supports? I know it supports .ogg, but will I have to make my music code from scratch if I were to do that? Because of tier 1 OGG functions?

The format of your sounds does not change the AppGameKit functions at all.

You don't want to use MP3 due to licensing issues.

The OGG commands must be used with your OGG files, doesn't work with the regular ones. OGG takes up less space than MP3. But more importantly you can loop OGG seamlessly and also play multiple files at the same time.

They must've changed this in AppGameKit 2, as I have no specific OGG commands in my help docs.

Yes, OGG is a relatively new feature for AGK2, and improves on the old MP3 commands for the reasons mentioned by DA. You can use OGG in your games without worrying about licence fees

Another royalty free site for cool music

http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/music.html

As long as copyright is mentioned in game credit - advises you on the download link screen.

Sure we can get any mp3 to OGG convertors everywhere on the web I'm sure... Just choose the freebie App ones and all is good

Could try fre.ac

https://www.freac.org/

Converts any music, even CD ripping, tried and quiet good, as long as you keep focussed on every licencing on any music before ripping and using stuff!

Best audio converter ever in my opinion. Tons of supported formats, will convert multiple files simultaneously utilizing all available cpu cores for speed. And it's very simple to use.

Audacity can also be used for converting from MP3 to OGG. It's also a commonly used and free editing program for recordings and sound effects.

With some coding and composing you could get very very tiny music files. If size matters much, you should consider this method.

I have more-or-less solved the issue. My audio has went from 18MB to just barely 6MB with an extra song on top and sound effects.
