So I'm looking for something ultra-portable to be able to work on my AppGameKit projects on, and I've come across this little puppy from Asus.

https://www.asus.com/au/Notebooks/ASUS-Vivobook-E200HA/specifications/

I'm on a budget, but literally the only things this thing will be used for is AppGameKit dev of mobile games (Just 2D stuff, too) and web browsing (to talk to you fine folk).

But will AppGameKit run on such a minimalist notebook? It genuinely runs full-blown Windows 10 and not one of those mobile versions of Windows 10 that netbooks often do, and I'd likely just use a slimline portable hard drive for project storage anyway, so on-board storage isn't a problem. I just thought I'd check here first before making a purchase for nothing!

Should do, I use a Lenovo 100s 11BY

silver one paid $240AU for it in Jan 2016
GameGuru struggles to the point of not being usable on it though (not unexpected).
Love the battery life on mine (10Hrs was the record)

I don't actually touch GameGuru, tbh. AppGameKit does all I need it to

How does AppGameKit run on your Lenovo?

Not too bad, I do only 3d and 16,000 polys drawn to the screen (no clipping on anything) gets me 38-41 frames, acceptable for dev work.
I don't use the physics so that could slow it up.

The processor in the Asus is slightly faster and better at 3D so overall it should be great for 2D.

I run a few Steam games on it and they run fine (Binding of Isacc,, Don't Starve, Project Zomboid)

Delicious. I think that's a big ol' "sold" sticker for me, then.

It runs on a Raspberry Pi, so anything else should be fine

Huzzah! Now I don't have to be tied to my desk while I'm making games.

I work in AppGameKit full time as my day job. I tend to get sick of sitting in the same spot every day...

Go for the 64Gb version if you can afford it. My Lenovo has a 32GB SSD/MMC so I added aa 32GB MicroSD card, and while it gives me JUST enough disk space (I have a lot of other game dev relaeted tools, MS office and vids), the MicroSD is a lot slower than the builtin SSD/MMC that it has.

I had been thinking of using an external HDD for anything that wasn't the OS

Hahahaha it's pretty great, but you DO get cabin fever pretty quick when you change to this after working an office job for 10+ years.

I've had my asus laptop for almost 5 years now and it still works fine. (had to buy a new battery this past year). I don't really have any complaints about it.

Personally, I prefer things with a dedicated video card, but I think the Intel graphics should handle your needs.
