Quite a while ago I wrote a suite of very similar apps with a lot of help from this forum. For a while they were fine and are still being downloaded and used by some people. However my ISP switched my antivirus to F-Secure and it declared that it had discovered all these trojans in my apps on my PC and in my Microsoft OneDrive and had quarantined them. I am now unable to run them. I then switched to Panda antivirus. Now, when I try to download any of my apps, for example, SprintAdd, from robsfunlearning.weebly.com I am told that it will not be downloaded because a trojan has been detected. Any ideas anybody?

No, only the antivirus vendors can do that.

You can whitelist certain files to allow them on your own machine, but only the AV vendors can update the signatures to prevent it from getting a false positive for other people.

@Mobiius
i not meant new signatures, i guess if you undo files from quarantine it is automatic added into a user app whitelist.
at least the isp will have access to this removed files.

No, your ISP has no access to the files or programs on your machine and my point stands.
If you mean the file is quarantined whilst still being online, then again, it'll still be the AV vendor of whoever Microsoft use for their AV solution. (Probably windows defender)

Either way, your ISP has no control over your AV solution, other than recommending one. (However, some ISPs do sometimes install snooping software on your machine without your knowledge, but that's another story. )

My ISP, Talktalk that ran AOL services in UK, updated their software and it switched antivirus from AVG to F-Secure. Then F-Secure found that all of the 10 small apps that I had written had Trojans and it quarantined them. Several weeks passed before I noticed this. I switched to Panda antivirus and it also reports my apps as containing Trojans. I can still play my apps on an android tablet.

Stop using antivirus? Personally, I swear by Microsofts windows defender. (Previously Security essentials.) It's the only AV solution that doesn't leave my machine running like a bag of burning crap on a doorstep. Plus I run windows 10 and it came as default, but I chose to use it waaay back in windows XP.

As for your trojan issue, are you able to rebuild the apps? Perhaps the updated versions would fare better?

Thanks Mobiius. I think I 'll switch to Windows defender now, try downloading Sprintadd and see if defender tells me that it contains a Trojan. If it does then I'll rebuild it and see how that fares.

I've been using Windows defender since windows 10 rolled out for passive defense, and scan periodically with malwarebytes for active, have had no issues.

Maybe your system was compromised in some way, and those files do actually contain something nasty. The only way to tell is to check with a bunch of anti-virus tools. If it's false positive, only a small number will report it as bad where most will say it's fine.

You could try using this to check the file against a whole bunch of anti-virus scanners at once

I alerted Weebly who host my website and they assure me that my apps are not infected. I then downloaded my 10 apps without being told that they contain Trojans. I think that I can relax now. Thanks everybody.

I don't use anti-virus and I've never had a single alert!

Only antivirus software would give you an alert. So isn't that statement like saying "I don't drive and yet somehow I've never run out of petrol"?

..until it runs at 70% CPU usage. I've implemented all the performance tips for Defender, and it still kills my machine from time to time.

I've seen a few articles which claim Defender to be pretty good actually. I've been pretty happy with Avira... that is if I ran AV of course
