The app stores have specific categories for games "designed for families". Google seems to have rolled some of this out recently, at least I got an email about the concept.

https://developer.android.com/distribute/google-play/families.html

Specifically, there are typically specific requirements for advertising

https://play.google.com/about/families/designed-for-families/ads-and-monetization/

With AdMob, there are even specific configuration options needed to comply

https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6223431?hl=en

this would require code changes to how AdMob is configured. I guess this would require changes in AppGameKit itself to make this configuration (see link above)?

Anyone have experiences on what is needed to participate in these Desiged for Families programs on Google Play, Apple App Store, etc. with AppGameKit tier 1?

I switched one of my (non-AGK) apps to "Designed for Families" as a trial run for a couple of months. I noticed no difference in traffic and had close to 0% fill rate with any ads what-so-ever from Admob through the duration of this test. Really, no ads were showing as apparently little to none were marked explicitly as 'designed for families' compatible by the advertisers, which was a requiremeent for them to show after setting the Admob property 'is_designed_for_families' to true. I lost 100% of the ad revenue I had been getting previously and eventually withdrew from that designation. Perhaps things have changed since then as this was over a year ago, but I know others complained of the same back then.

OK, thanks for the input. Maybe not the right choice at this time or at least would require quite a bit of research into different ad-platform options and configurations.

How did you set the flag in AdMob? Is your app tier 1 AppGameKit?

Yeah missed that . It seems quite usual to have bad fill rates so I guess this category for ad revenue is not so interesting right now anyways.
