After an unexpectedly long time, Penguins vs. Bugs is finally available on Google Play!

A world-renowned penguin entomologist's specimens have accidentally been set loose in the Antarctic skies! To prevent a possible ecological catastrophe, a team of penguins embarks on a mission to recover the escaped bugs as quickly as possible.

Equipped with a jetpack, a bubble blower and a portable bug tracker, our penguin hero sets out to immobilize the insects in each patch of sky so that the rest of the team can capture them. He'll run into plenty of resistance, from hungry mosquitoes and aggressive bees to quick, evasive dragonflies, but he's also sharing the skies with a friendly merchant who may be willing to help him out - for the right price.

Features:

- Scour the skies in search of butterflies, mosquitoes, dragonflies, bees and more.
- Earn (in-game) coins for your efforts, and spend them on upgrades for your equipment.
- Replay areas in Memory Mode - with the bug tracker switched off - to test your bug-chasing skills even further, and earn a coin bonus for doing so!
- Discover and collect over a hundred mysterious medallions hidden in the sky.

Version 1.1.0 has just been submitted, with larger button labels and a link to the game's website on the title screen. My Showcase submission is currently pending approval.

All except the font. I should probably mention that the trailer runs at 30 FPS, but the game's actually built for 60.

While I wasn't looking, mobile ad tech provider App Samurai put up a blog post about mobile game development platforms, mentioning AppGameKit and Penguins vs. Bugs in the process:

Penguins vs. Bugs is on sale in many countries from now until Friday... sort of a "Black-and-White Friday" sale.

@ FoX_MoLdY - cant help but notice the low install number of the android version, ever considered steam? i am certain you'd quickly recoup the $100 fee in sales if it sold for a $1 - I'd just hate to see anyone's hard work be swallowed by the Google playstore black hole. I have mobile games https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=moarlasers and steam games http://store.steampowered.com/search/?publisher=Rocket%20Monster%20Games so I've been around the block. and long decided mobile; unless you have a marketing budget or shear luck (flappy bird) anything you drop onto mobile just floats off into the void never to be seen.

I may end up going to Steam at some point. I actually have some (but not all) of the work needed for a PC release done already.

The Google Play launch was a bit of a learning experience for me. When the game launched, as a total newcomer I was less concerned about promotion than about making sure I had a stable, quality product (in other words, I wanted to be sure my first impression was a good one before making it on too many users). Now that I'm a bit more familiar with how it's done, I can be more confident with my next launch.

PvB is on sale again through the end of the year. Also, the promo codes I posted earlier in this thread should now be redeemable through June 2018. Give the game a try!

Well, I think my Steam launch week went pretty well: the Steam version of PvB has already outsold the Google Play version! Anyway, earlier tonight I published a little update to the game. If I've configured things properly, then the game should now have Steam Cloud support for save files!
