lol... this isn't the first time this has cropped up, just the first time there seems to be concrete evidence.
god knows if there really is a ghost there, it's entirely possibly; depends if you believe in them or not.
I think the more immediate questions for this mystery isn't so much, "is there a ghost?" but more along the lines of finding out what the ghost is doing.
play devils advocate, when you can determin who the ghost is and why they'd be constantly breaking open the twin doors of what is now the fire escape and slamming them behind him; with some quite 17th century clothes on... then you can start to prove or disprove his actions.
i mean if you eleminate the possibly of plausibility you eleminate the ghostie.
guess this is like nessy though, quite frankly i'd love for it just to stay an urban myth rather than some detective spoiling it all. dunno about you but i like mystery and believing that there could be a little more to life than what we can physically see and feel.
(annoyingly i also happen to be a strongly logical guy who wants to know if its true or not with hard facts ... hehee, totally contradictory personality traits)
