Hi,

UPDATED NEWS!
We have now released:

AppGameKit Mobile on Android
AppGameKit Mobile on iOS

The Android version was released a month ago and has had three updates since it's release. The iOS version took some time to get through Apple approval and we had to remove cloud sharing from it. We are hopeful that Apple will allow us to add this back in, we'll let you know.

We will continue to develop and improve the mobile version.

If you like the app then please give it a favourable review!

Great news, this first full release is cool, tested cloud saving, works for me.

Are there plans to securely store the TGC login details in the app so that the cloud upload/download becomes seamless?

Good work TGC

@Tone Dialer

Once you login once the app should remember your credentials.

@ The Next

Confirmed, I only had to put in login credentials once on my Android tablet, excellent!

It gets better , that is great, I have my cloud storage open on PC and can see the files updating from Android.

This is very cool. A first I think for such a system. Well done.

A couple of questions:
1) How do I load from cloud into AppGameKit desktop

2) when I put a zip on the cloud save via website upload how do I download it into AppGameKit mobile.

Hi Ed,

Quote: "1) How do I load from cloud into AppGameKit desktop"

Currently you will need to download onto your desktop and unzip it. Then you can load it into AppGameKit desktop. The plan longer term would be to make it integrated across both versions.

Quote: "2) when I put a zip on the cloud save via website upload how do I download it into AppGameKit mobile."

It's not designed to do this but there is a way. You have to make a new project on your mobile version with the same name and then when you go to open, download it from the cloud into the mobile version.

ah thanks Rick will do that

Edit: created the project and downloaded it from the cloud but all that's in the AppGameKit mobile is the created project. I created one called sfsr and cloud save download which it appears to do, on opening it though it's the default created project from agkmobile.

@ EdzUp
It *does* work, but only when using this workflow.

In mobile app:
1) Create a project e.g; Test5
2) Open some other project to take the current focus away.

On your PC:
3) Create a zip folder containing your project with same name as suggested by RickV. e.g: Test5.zip
4) Upload in cloud as "regular file" (may need to swap screens under your account if doesn't work at once).
5) Now in open select the project Test5 again and then select cloud saving>download.
6) Open the project Test5.

Done.

Hope this helps. I'm pretty happy with as I can tinker a little while commuting.

Btw: I've noticed switching orientation doesn't always synch the button orientation correctly.

@RickV

Question:
How in the mobile app can we switch, in a project containing multiple files, between those files?

For besides the main.agc many projects also contain files such as includes.
In the desktop version one can open those easily, but here I can't find a way to do this, seems to show only the main.agc, while it does compile all source files in the project, so know's they are there.

@EdzUp, can you be more specific? The latest version is live. Next to the Undo & Redo buttons there is now the current file name being edited (default main.agc). Touch it and you can add new files to your project and reference them with #include and #insert commands

Works like a charm: can open(switch) between multiple files and up downloading the zipped file in the cloud works effortlessly.
Also with the undo/redo button it's now a really useable product.

Many thanks.

Hi all,

I think we'll need an improved system for downloading projects from the cloud. I see it as vital to ensure you can jump between mobile & desktop. We'll work towards that.

iOS is still in Apple approval...

That sounds like an excellent plan. Personally I'd like to see support for Dropbox. The API looks well documented so shouldn't be much trouble to implement.

This looks neat. I'd like to write code on my pc, then load it into a project on my iPad. Either with drop box support, or my GameCreators cloud storage.

I've tried copy/pasting text from dropbox, but the IDE only pastes what's been copied from the IDE, it seems.

I am a long standing AppGameKit 1/2 user and have eagerly awaiting the iOS mobile release, which I have just downloaded onto my iPad Pro.

Without wishing to drop the pun in, I have to say this is a real game changer for me.

Whilst I make good use of my Pro, nothing has ever made me feel 100% justified in paying the high price for this device. AppGameKit mobile has just changed all of that, and I now know what an iPad Pro is really for. Thanks to TGC for once again restoring my faith and delivering something truly useful (and awesome) in equal measure. Well played!

Thank you for releasing the iOS version! I've been looking forward to coding while commuting to and from work. Some questions and suggestions:

1. It might be a good idea to change the title of the thread, since information and download links are provided for both the Android and iOS-version in the same post
2. Currently, a large part of the screen is inhabited by a virtual keyboard. I use a bluetooth keyboard. Can the virtual one be made to dissapear?
3. While Apple doesn't allow the app to sync to the cloud, some developers manage to get permission to save to the iCloud. Perhaps the people at Pythonista have some advice?

Hey,

I can't open the Example Projects anymore. There's just nothing there.
I've reinstalled the app, still nothing. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S4.
Creating own projects works fine.

Seems to be broken since the last update. Worked fine when I used it right after release.
Am I missing something?

SD card loading and saving is working fine, but in addition there's a little handy button for copying the examples to SD. Very well thought through.

Having issues getting a project from desktop to mobile. I first uploaded to cloud storage as "AGK Cloud Save" but that didn't work. After reading Rick Nasher's post to use "Regular File," I thought I'd give that a try, so I deleted the original file and tried uploading again using "Regular File." Now I get an error "You do not appear to have uploaded a file." Even when selecting "AGK Cloud Save," I still get the error.

The code file loads perfectly on desktop.

EDIT: Fixed the file was corrupted it seems android is more ruthless in its checking than windows
