I only found out about this game yesterday and i have to say it has amazing playability although the graphics etc are not that good.

'Chaos' is a battle between 2 to 8 wizards, and or all of which can be
computer controlled. Most spells are used to summon creatures which are
controlled by the casting wizard. Other spells have a variety of different
effects. The popularity of this game resulted in 'Lords of Chaos', which adds
many aspects to the basic concept of magical combat.

You get one round where everyone casts a spell then a round to move/attack in.
If you are player one then you get to cast your spells and move first. The
last player is at a disadvantage that he can be attacked before he has a
chance to move, but has the advantage that illusion spells can be cast without
the risk of being disbelieved for one turn (useful for dragons). Some spells
need to be cast at a target - attack spells need an enemy creature, create
spells need a square adjacent to your wizard.

Undead creatures can only be attacked by undead, magic weapons or attack
spells.

I would stongly recomend this game to anyone and i believe there is a site where u can play the original i think it is http://www.spectrum.lovely.net

Thanx and i hope you enjoy it

I was a fan of Laser Squad, which was the prequel, set in the future with dalek thinks running about - only had a demo of Chaos, but it was pretty much the same. I quite like turn based games, and Chaos was cool, but these games are looking pretty dated these days. Perhaps the newer mobile phones could have these style games, like slower multiplayer things, where you make your move then wait for your turn again.

While we're on the subject, anyone remember Bloodwych - that ruined single player games for me, nowadays I only really buy split screen x-box games, Bloodywch was a 2 player split screen Dungeon Master clone and was huge, graphics were cool (at least on the Atari ST) and you could do all sorts of mean tricks to the other players men (like lock them in dungeons!).
