With reference to another thread, a few extra points added

Port is 5689, listed under build->build options broadcast port

Under linux mint with firewall activated broadcast does not work.

Open firewall, temporarily disable to test it is the firewall.

If so click rules tab -> click + -> goto 'simple' tab -> give the rule a name-> enter port number-> click add.
try broadcast to an android device.
