working on a new game and i would like to implement sun shafts into it but i am not sure where to start. My first though is that is would most likely require a shader. If there is a way to do this without one im all ears otherwise is there a shader in agk that exists that can accomplish this?

Shader would be best, but the old school method was planes with a transparency texture

"God rays" or "light scattering" are the common terms for this type of shader effect. There are probably some free examples to be found that could be converted/applied to agk

Evolved had a nice one for dbpro, but that is in hlsl rather than glsl

If you got an extra Jackson lying around, I'd pick up the AppGameKit Shader pack, which includes GodRays:
