Hello.

Could anyone please tell me if it is possible to create an X file from within DBP?

What I mean is; could I place some primatives in 3D space, texture them and then merge them as a single X file?

It is easy enough to do in an external 3D package but I would like to be able to do it from within DBP.

Thanks

Am I talking about limbs? Is that what limbs are?
I have never had the need to make my own models until recently so I have not looked into it too much.

to do that you'd have to know the .x file format, apparently its not too hard... i'm sure some people round here have some knowledge on it.

GO TO THE ETERNAL DESTINY FORUMS!!! http://forums.eternaldestinyonline.com

It is possible to create FVF mesh objects in DBP using mem blocks. I even have some demo code of that in the forums somewhere. But, the .X format is only used internally.

Having said that, one of the .X formats is plain text. That means you can certainly write out and read in .X models. But, it would take a ton of coding to do it properly.

Go to the Microsoft Direct X knowledge base and you can find the specs there or you can download the SDK.

Out of curiosity, why? Given the number of tools that can write in .X format, we really don't need another one do we?

We dont need another - quite true. I was just wondering if I could do it, for personal development.
