I just noticed people can steal the sample sound by using 'Save Target as...' Was this intentional? I know theyre in low quality but still...

i would supposed that they ment to do that...i can garrentee that they KNOW that people can. they couldve dissabled right click and stuff like that...but they didnt...

the samples I listened to across the net were horrible so I am hoping it was a quality thing - if it is a true representation of what sound matter really sounds like....yeeesh <shivers at the thought>

As it states on the page, they're VERY low quality samples with added distortion. The MP3 medleys aren't however, but the samples overlap so and reverb so you can't rip them. You can rip off the low quality samples if you're dumb enough to use them in your game, we can't stop that.

That logic is backward...

"Hi, we are selling this great audio product, go have a listen - but just remember, the quality is set very low, and we have added distortion, so no one except dummies will use them for free in their games, but in doing so we have completely altered the true representation of the product which defeats the entire purpose in the first place."

You would have been better off just posting a few samples at full quality to get people's appetite's whetted.

I guess that depends on your definition of high quality.
Although it is relatively easy to remove digital distortion (to a certain extend- depending on the complexity of the material), these samples also lack high and low frequencies. You can add those frequencies (overtones and sub basses) and thus "enhance" the sound file but it'll be still miles away from the original quality.

They not just make stupid noises into the microphone?
I did it and was able to pull of an immpresion of a Doom 3 monster.

I doubt it.

You can try and clean up the distortion, but crap in = crap out basically - no matter what type of filter you try to pass it through.

As for the samples being "backward" logic - not really. The MP3 medley plays them all one after the other (overlapped). Which is no good if you want to know what a certain sample sounds like. So you can click the low-quality version and listen to it.

Simple.

Almost as simple as the authors of some of the posts made here

Sure you can make your own Doom noises by shouting into a mic. Now go and try make a realistic gun fire + shell eject by doing the same.
