Now I keep hearing the topics “Tier1” and “Tier2” in the context of programming. Tried to find out on the net what it should be and why. Can you please explain with example that to me?

Tier 1 is AGK's interpreted BASIC style scripting language. Tier 2 is C++ with AppGameKit libraries.

See the Tier 2 section here

"Tier" is a not an industry term and is something TGC uses to distinguish between using AGK's BASIC Script and C++, as hendron offers. no more, no less.

i expect the difference is, tier 1 is "easier" to get started with if you have no prior coding experience. any BASIC language is going to hold your hand some and protect you from some of the pitfalls at the cost of some performance and limitation to functionality/expandability that tier 2 provides for, otherwise.

meanwhile, you are not alone in the confusion
