iOS Exporting Upated

The exporting of iOS apps has recently been made impossible due to changes enforced by Apple on Mac devices.

We have now updated the export process in the Mac version and can confirm that builds can now be exported and should work fine when you submit them for publishing to the iOS app store.

Please let us know how you get on if you are an active developer who creates and publishes iOS apps.

As usual, Steam owners of AppGameKit Studio will have the update ready for them. TheGameCreators customers can download the new version direct from our servers from their order history area of the TheGameCreators website.

Hi,

I've downloaded the update and still can't publish to iOS. I've updated Xcode, re-done the certificates etc, but still getting errors during the Transporter process. I've posted it on GitHub too. If I need to wait another 4 months on an update, then I think I'll need to find a different product. Gutted.

Same boat here, instead of one error on transporter, now I have three.
I have updated the associated ticket on Github accordingly.

Oh dear, 6 months to fix one bug and it's still broken, that's disappointing. Let's hope they fix it quickly.

may as well keep our experience with this studio patch together in this thread. please include system platform/version.

no longer able to export to .AAB; export appears to time out looking for resources that are not present:


.APK does export (somehow?)

WIN 10 & 11

additional reports @ repo regarding continued inability to export to iOS.


if anyone WAS able to export either, please advise?

I can confirm that exported IPA files are NOT accepted by "Transporter". These are the new error messages produced during validation (with ID's removed just in case):



This was using the newest AppGameKit Studio v2023.07.17 on quite an old Mac Mini (the only one I have available) macOS 10.13.6 - 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 (4GB RAM).

Just for reference, the previous version of AppGameKit Studio (v2023.01.25) produced the following error when validating with "Transporter":

My export to iOS worked using version 7/17a.
Ignore the 2022 name!

All the way to testflight and on my phone!

UPDATE: I can confirm that the new v2023.07.17a for Mac has now created an IPA file which has passed verification with "Transporter", uploaded successfully, and has been submitted to the Apple App Store for review. Fingers crossed it will go through.

UPDATE 2: The App was accepted and is now available in the App Store (in record time!).

I did have an issue with the new version where the AppGameKit Studio IDE would load and show my current project for a split second before flicking to a black screen. I get the impression everything was there and working because if I typed anything and quit AppGameKit Studio it would tell me I had unsaved changed, but I couldn't see anything in the window. All other apps and the desktop behaved fine. If anyone else has this issue, you can completely reset the AppGameKit Studio IDE on a Mac by doing the following:

Make sure AppGameKit Studio is closed down.
Open "Finder" on your Mac to browse the files.
From the "Go" menu choose "Go to Folder".
Type "~/Library/Application Support/TheGameCreators" and hit enter.
Delete the folder called "AppGameKitStudio".

Now run AppGameKit Studio and it should be like a brand new fresh start.

I can confirm that the .AAB export is broken on this new release. How on earth did they manage to break this when the only bugfix was to the IOS export (mac version?) Surely we haven't got to wait 3 to 6 months for this to be fixed? I'm confused why they even released a new version for windows anyway when you need a mac to export to ios.

After taking 6 months to release this version it appears to have been rushed and untested, even the change log hasn't been updated.

I have gone back to using the January update. It's just very disappointing that after 6 months with 470 open issues on GitHub that the only thing that the new update has managed to do is to break the .AAB export. Not great tbh.

Also, no Classic update this time so what should we assume from that?

seems THIS. i don't know if the files are missing or reference to the files is wrong but issue posted @ github with reference to report of successful export to .aab with this version via tier 2 @ steam.

I have managed to get v2023.07.17 exporting a .AAB file by replacing the aapt2-bundle.exe file with the one from the January update. The file size is different so they have definitely made more changes than they have told us about.

The file is located in The Game Creators\AppGameKit Studio\media\data\android folder.

Unfortunately I am not in a position to test the .AAB file by uploading it to Google Play store.

CloneSprite for Physics sprites doesn't work properly in AppGameKit Studio.

When a Sprite is cloned in AppGameKit Studio, it does not respond to gravity.

You may ask why to use CloneSprite vs CreateSprite? Since CloneSprite is much faster than CreateSprite.

It did occur in Studio 2023.07.17a. However, I would not know if this was earlier as well, since I always used to compile with Classic.
I had to use the latest version of Studio, since the iOS compile problem has not been fixed in Classic yet.

As you say, if it is a Vulkan issue, then it should have occured in prior releases as well.

Any word if Classic will be updated soon for IPA export? I'm still dead in the water to export a Transporter acceptable app update

I ask as never had any success exporting an IPA from Studio (fails to find code signing identities) yet Classic always worked. As both versions are typically updated at a similar time, its has not been a problem in the past

I know my signing certs are correct as can export from Classic and updated active apps in the past without issue. Can export from the current version of Classic but of course fails on the Transporter

Fail safe query - can Studio be altered to export via 'Geany' the same as Classic? I'm sure there is some permission blocking Studio access to the keychain but wasted weeks in the past without success

Just to clarify - running xcode 14.3.1 under Ventrua 13.4 (not that any previous versions of xcode or OS made any difference)
