Hi all!

I have purchased AppGameKit Studio on a Windows computer many years ago but at the time the purchase did include all 3 platforms, Windows, Mac and Linux.
Since I switched to Mac and I used AppGameKit Studio on Mac. Today the update on Steam is failed for unknown reasons and without thinking I have deleted AppGameKit Studio with the intention to reinstall it. But I can't. I no longer have access to the Mac version. The Store page tells me I need to pay additional £70 to download it for Mac.

I've heard TGC dropped Linux support but I didn't pay attention and didn't notice they also made the Mac version required to be purchased separately.
Can someone please tell me if this is a mistake or TGC on purpose removed the Mac version from my library? Today the Windows and Mac version bundle cost £70. I have paid £70 years ago. I think I should have the Mac version in my library as before.

I was supporting and I do support the idea to pay for a new version every single year, but the idea I am losing access to old versions is unacceptable and I will not buy it again, not because I don't want it but because I do not support this business strategy. From all the possible financing options, I can't believe TGC decided to go with this and remove access to old versions people paid for. I am very disappointed now.

Please tell me it was a mistake.
Thank you.

I can't see TGC removing the Mac version from people that had already purchased it, I would imagine that side of it is managed by Steam anyway. When I purchased the TGC version it came with the Mac and Linux versions.

When you say you deleted it do you mean you uninstalled it from your computer or deleted it from your Steam account? If you deleted it from your Steam account then that may be why you have to repurchase.

i dont have a mac so can't see it for myself but i doubt they've made it a separate purchase. when i went to steam, i did see a small update and once installed, all that i saw different was the IDE colors had changed perhaps there was an issue when they posted the last update and somehow the mac version was omitted.

otherwise, have you tried the steam client/bootstrap vs store page & checked your library there? if it's not there, you'll do better to contact TGC directly vs a forum/steam post.

I have only uninstalled it and when I went to the Store page and tried to install it, it said wrong system, could not install it from the store page and the only thing I've seen is that I can purchase it again.
But then I went to my library applied the filter to show only Mac versions and then I was able to install it from there. It is never happened before. So it is all sorted now. Not sure what happened.

@virtualnomad the last Steam update was supposed to fix the Google Billing issue but Lee didn't update the IDE with the change so it didn't work.

The DEV version fixes the issue but Lee hasn't released it yet.

The update to the IDE added new preferences and the way the preferences are read in from the .pref file can mean that the user has to reset their preferences or delete the .pref file in the AppGameKit folder, this only usually happens if you update and then revert back to previous version before the IDE changes were made. There's no way to avoid this with an updated IDE that has additional preferences due to the way Studio has been designed.

There won't be any new IDE updates from me now so unless someone else makes any changes I don't think it will be a problem moving forward.

@Zaxxan FYI: if you only put new variables in the bottom of the struct Preferences, and also add the default values to "ResetPreferences" if will work fine when adding new variables, except if you last variable is a bool and your first is a bool next time you add something, but you can just make sure its not

Hi Preben, thanks for the tip. I had worked out that the new variables needed to go at the bottom, originally I had tried to group them together. Even when they were at the bottom I still had a few issues maybe because the last variable was a boolean, I can't remember though!
