Hi I just recently discovered the FOG command and after experimenting for a while it really is very good.
I didn't know about shadows until 18 months ago in AppGameKit and I like them also very much.
I am impressed with the particle editor and it was worth what I paid for it. I might find a use for it. Although I would rather code it myself or something similar.
The one thing I dislike about addons is learning to use them. I prefer the language I'm using to have 3d built in like Blitz3D or AppGameKit S or PureBasic. I've created games with all of these and they are very good. AppGameKit S is my favorite language, it is very nice and with a bit of imagination can be used for pretty much anything.
2D 3D whatever. PureBasic is gonna be awesome very shortly for me with the new ogre 14 if all goes well.
Blitz3d is also very capable.

And what was the question?

Blitz3d is being Reworked by Mark Sibly with his LibSGD Commands.

What do you know about PureBASIC and its modernisation? Is it going to be a via le solution for 3D games with that Ogre update ? Would be interesting, not a fan of PureBASIC but surely interesting in these hard times for AGK

The ogre 14.3 looks to be the same as ogre 1.8 but with a lot of bug fixes and maybe the odd new command. For me this is a very big deal and I've been waiting for this over a year. This is great as it should work really well without me having to learn anything new.

Sorry to have to say this but Mark Sibly died in December 2024

The star of the show for me is AppGameKit Studio as it's very nice to work with and all the code I write I fully understand which is great. Don't get me wrong I only know a fraction of what AppGameKit S can do but what I do know is enough to make quite a bit and I'm ready to learn more and progress further as and when needed. I don't know if TGC 's have thought of everything but it seems they may have and having the experience of writing earlier languages like AppGameKit AGK2 Dark Basic I trust that TGC's really know their stuff. So yeah I think they made a language that can make any app or game although some report it is only for games but I disagree and believe it can do whatever you want to use it for. Also what I have learned by using AppGameKit is transferable to other similar languages or some other Basic variants.
It is important for me to have both 2d and 3d support and for me to enjoy using it and have a fast development speed. I do enjoy using AppGameKit Studio more the more I use it and develop more tricks the easier it becomes. I do not write code down anymore and rely on my memory and it all seems to of gone into long term memory now which is great. I hope you all have a great 2025

As to whether PureBasic is now a viable option for 3d I think the answer is almost certainly yes when the beta testing is complete for PB 6.20 . currently beta2 .
I think AppGameKit will be good for a few years at least and maybe someone with the knowledge will take it forward. It's a shame it had to happen but it is now open source so who knows. It is still a very good language and still sold on Steam and is a finished language (no waiting for features). It will still get the odd update for the Android store so not much has changed.

1. https://www.appgamekit.com/documentation/search.html
2. You can use Particles to generate smoke (Search the board for smoke)
