I saw some Solar-system simulations around here ... that's quiet interesting. But I thought it would be great to have a chemistry simulation .
And it will be of use in the schools.



Description of the program :
You can add some atoms in a 3D area, then they will interract with each other (like they would in reality).
The point of the program : you can see for yourself what atoms will match together and which not (example, H and Na won't be a couple)

User's guide (for now):
Press S or D to select the atom you want to insert in the area (displayed above).
Press Enter to get it in the field.
Press 1 to 8 to change the backdrop (needed when some atoms have the same color)
Press UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT to move the cam around the first atom.
Click to quit the Program.

Things to improve :
- The problem with carbon
- Eyecandy
- Playability (even if it's not a game)

Your site doesn't work for me at all. The banner on the side is flashing and the text is in a colum 2inches wide and the rest has the template but nothing else. I'm using Opera

Well, I apologize. I didn't test my site with Opera. (Just Internet Explorer, Mozilla and Netscape)

Oh yeah, Indi, pHcolor is still in use. These were really nice screens.

You must surely think I'm mad ... only releasing chemistry programs.

I made it slightly better :
- You only have to use the mouse and the arrow-keys to use the program (The whole user's guide above has changed)
- I got a link to the program on that link, this page is simpler, I hope opera users will be able to download it

nah working on chemistry programs seems to help you get past the pitfalls of not completing projects and learning new things so its all good.

For some eyecandy, you could do the following:

When a new atom is added, have it float onto the screen and, if it attaches to the cluster, burst some fancy shmancy particles.

Phaelax, when you say the atom should float onto the screen, do you mean, the atom should come as if it was coming from the panel ?
I don't really get the point, with these fancy particles : what kind of effect should it show ?

can u add more elements cause it is pointless if u have only a few elements

how did you actually create the code cause it is very complex, and good.

Usermlsra, That would be nice. There is "Access to a private DarkBASIC Education Forum" on this page. I wonder if I may join without teaching DarkBASIC, but using it to teach.

Phoenix_insane, I could add elements like Rb, Sr,In, Sb, Te, I, He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, but not the elements form the middle of the Mendeleiev Table of Elements, because it would be too difficult for the pupils to find the theories on their own. And I don't know which color I shall give them, I only take the official colors (If you know them, you can send them, with the source)
The point of the program is this : The children have to use it and compare the atoms and how the associate, and find out how they can bond to each other

Phoenix_insane, I write down how I create it in my work (I also write down how to use it usefully) ... at first I'll do it in french, then the Anglish version will follow
