One of my projects from the time i was disapeered is i built a huge Linux cluster and shaped it like stonehinge...so does anyone need a render farm...its quite fast...

The Nodes include
24 HPVectra5 and 6s ranging from 350mhz to 650mhz all with 64MB of ram
3 Server nodes one with a 500mhz one with a 180mhz pentium pro and one with a 1.3ghz duron
then the controler node is my PC which is a 2600XP 1GIG of the fastest DDR ram

i can put it together but i dont have a use for it so does anyone need a cluster for anything? it cant be a server i'm on dial up...thats the reason im not using it...its running Gentoo i emerged the cluster thing...i cant remember what its called...but its all there...useless at the moment...

Hail Linux...Um...and i'm making some sort of game thing...i think...and someting else...and that thing...Things and Stuff are the best parts of life.

I liked Mandrake till the MDK 9.0 kernel didnt support half my hardware... i tried Gentoo but it took forever to emerge that cluster especially on all those comps...but now i think im going to try Mepis since it supports my NVidia card and WIFI...

Hail Linux...Um...and i'm making some sort of game thing...i think...and someting else...and that thing...Things and Stuff are the best parts of life.

Indi...that text mud server to a multiplayer server is a cool idea...yeah i know about all the distros...i dont like Knoppix its buggy...i know about distowatch...Mepis is the most modern...supporting WIFI like it does...OSFusaion is gonna be better...im about to write the Mouse and keyboard drivers...Fedora is crap...so...i love Linux...my old MMORPG project was gonna run on Linux servers but i realized i didnt have enough bandwidth on my broadband sites...

Your intentions to insult Linux have failed as it still remains the supirior to Windows in all forms however...your ignorance is forgiven because when i am done OSFusion will be the greatest...

@CattleRustler

Don't make me start with the red hat joke again!

HeHe, i'm running Red Hat 9.0 on a 550Mhz Server with 128Mb RAM and 2 SCSI hard drives (12gb total). Its my little toy
Plus, i got it for free, so thats always good.

I was going to put some kind of geek joke, but i can't remember how it goes...

@Darwin LOL i know...but alas...i am a Linux fanatic and my OSFusion project will be great...noone understands the power of Linux or the artful coding of the kernel...

@Mr_Flibble the Linux is strong is it not? lol i find it more stable than Windows by far.

Yeah, alot more stable. Hey, can anyone help me? I can't run RPM files on my linux box. They open, do some loading stuff, then nothing. I really want to install some stuff on it, but can't.

P.S. I am a linux noob (kinda), but i'm learning programming in it. Its good fun.

yeah the RPM comes up and loads the files to the /usr area...it should list the files that it installed and where they went...i use Tarball myself...im writing a Tarball package manager for OSFusion...possibly porting it to Linux...but i dunno how the RedHat RPM works...but the Mandrake RPM lists the files...

what you do with it depends on what your capable of doing,
not much point in all that power if you have nothing to do with it.
i'd say the best thing for a Linux cluster would be to setup an online server if you have the connection speed.

i'm sure alot of people would love to have a server for Quake3/Unreal Tournament/Etc...

i mean unless your doing anything that requires alot of multiprocessing server; it's kinda a dust gatherer isn't it

That's a lot of kit that you have no use for there ... so why did you build it?

well if you happen to have a copy of 3DSMax6 then i wouldn't mind putting that nice lil Server Farm to good use
Alexis has turned my home systems off :: miffed :: bloody girl

tried to log onto it just before Christmas to render soemthing, and i got an access error. Ended up phoning her at like 4am there, and she was like "oh well i thought you just forgot to turn them off"

and for some reason she doesn't know howto boot the machines back up, teach me for having a Mac as the internet server. lol
yeah so i might have a lil job for you provided you have Max6

if ya don't then don't worry, it's a pretty big download for a dailup
