Final Fantasy 7. Barret sees sephiroth and jenova coming. Out of nowhere, he says:

BARRET: "Look at the number!"

The first one is just plain stupid. The second one is most likely a poor translation...

terrain/graphics kicked ass like the beginning when your on that on planet think its called avalon or something but anyhow if you look at the water the mirror effect is simply awsome and the terrain is just beatiful!

Hmm, not sure if this would fit here or not, but:

In Mech Warrior 4, when you play a Master Trial, you get a radio transmission from the beginnning which says "Good Luck." Sometimes you cant decide on who's she's wishing luck for. You, or your three opponents

soul calibur 2, i don't think it's a terrible line but nightmare says "this is it" ALL THE TIME, and it gets really annoying he says it with like 4 of the moves he does, and he sometimes says it at the end of battles. lol

another "not so bad" line but at the end of halo, cortana asks MC "fancy a look?" she's not even british. who says fancy?

it's not really a bad line but in halo i get sick of the small grunt covenant saying "he's everywhere", "he's dead"(refering to their leader) and similar annoying things when i am busy emptying pistols and plasma rifles into them. all are in a high pithched voice screaming in fear.

i actually find it quite funny kinda gives them a more "living" aspect.

Along the lines of Megaton's comment... in Morrowind, when you hit someone they yell a 'switch to combat mode' comment, such as 'I should have killed you sooner' or 'now you die'. Well if you kill them in one hit they still shout it. So you get people saying '...no chance to defeat me!' while they're dead on the ground--sometimes even after you remove their corpses .

I don't know about worst lines in a game, but I can give a couple of examples of the worst voices in a game.

One is "Star Wars: The Phatom Menace" this is where Qui Gon sounded like Patrick Stewart for crying out loud and the other "Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine", Indy sounded awwwwful, awful I tells ya.

Programming anything is an art, and you can't rush art.

I can't believe no one mentioned this!

The worst line in any game: "Please press any key to continue"

Bah that just pisses me off! I think the coder should let a person know some other way that he is waiting for keyboard entry.

How about printing this in the middle of the screen with big fat letters "If inkey$()<>"" then ..." I would understand that!

Much better then the classical any key, where is that anykey anyways?

I was planning on making a very difficult game (to program anyways) sort of party based and open ended too i love my open ended games i'll try and remember this. hehe that would be funny too.

Unreal ending

computer: ship is on collision course with star xyz, course change advised

I mean like, 1000 years on and they still can`t do

if projected course (ship)=intersect object (sun) then change_ships_course_by_180_degrees

fat lot of use that computer is
(note MY future ships are programmed in DBpro 3000, much safer)

Mentor.

DOA2: Hardcore - Jann Lee - "I am the winner", he says it before almost every battle, gets very annoying... but i still use Jann Lee the most (97:44 gameplay time, used jann lee 1009 times.. next closest is Ein at 496)... also Ayane saying "I'm not Sweet" gets annoiying also..

you've just gotta love the conversation between the guards in thief 2 on the rooftops. there are 4 guards, 2 on each side of the street and they are guarding the rooftops and balconys and they have a huge argument and if you stay hidden you can listen to their conversation which ultimatly ends in them perforating each other!

There is a theory that if the meaning of the universe is ever found, it will be replaced by something even weirder. There is a theory that this has already happened.
