Life was probably on mars many many trillion-billiony many years ago. If you believe that we have a closed universe, then what we are finding there could be from thousands of trillenia ago where possibly a Sol system existed where Earth was a dead bunch of waste, or asteroids floating around, and mars was filled with people chasing green pieces of paper around.....
Interesting stuff!

You just know there's a bunch of aliens holding up a picture in front of the camera to mask their superior technology and vast cities...

For me there is no doubt that life once existed on Mars. Mars shows evidence of once having water, where you have water you have stagnation and where you have stagnation you will usually find algae, which is classed as a form of life.

But I'm not going to debate that here, all I want to know is, would this algae have been more intelligent than George W. Bush?

Hmmm, that's a tough one

I keep thinking our probes that we send to other planets are going to snap shots of wrecked explorers that we didn't send

Have to wait until we get the hell out of the solar system first ofcourse...

It was proved to be a hoax long ago. More detailed snapshots revealed it was just a combinaton of dunes that look like that from a certain angle.

You've been sniffing your old socks again haven't you?

I haven't quite worked out which was more alien in that film, The planet Mars, the acting, the dubious looking beard attacking Don Cheadle's face or Jerry O'Connell's attempt at being a big box office draw.

Yeah, that movie wasn't even remotely good, especially when they showed the alien! You don't show the alien, c'mon, that's self-evident!

Actually when I went to see it, there were only four people in the theater. Considering I was young, I didn't have the choice of walking out of the theater and my dad didn't want to waste his money, so we stayed. My brother was also with us - he stayed. The other person walked out in the middle of the movie, lol.

Why look for life on Mars! we havn't found all the life on earth yet =)

I think Aliens are real

I even have a screen shot of one from my game

I think Mars may have had life on it at one time

Is Mission to Mars that movie were they use like a radar and DNA single or some thing and like open up this odd looking rock and one guy goes with the aliens?

If you light a bad guys house on fire something always puts it out. If you accidentally light your house on fire something always keeps it going. (There is a god) =)

Yeah it was a pretty ghey movie, the more that I think about it. The way it showed evolution, LOL - the marsians left their planet and crashed into earth's ocean, and the next you know they've evolved into fish. WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY EVOLVE INTO FISH JUST BECAUSE THEY CRASHED IN WATER? WOULDN'T IT BE EASIER TO JUST, OH, I DON'T KNOW, SWIM TO THE SURFACE? It's stupid.

There's probebly been life on mars. Maybe there still is life on mars, just in too small of a form for us to detect just yet. Like in an underground cave or something.

I always wonder, if there's a planet in another galaxy with other life. I mean, if it happened on Earth, why not anywhere else? Supposedly there's suppose to be hundreds(maybe thousands, millions, billions) of other galaxies out there so the chances seem good.

Dang, I could go so into this, but I fear it'd cause a religious v. science flame war.

Anyway, pretty amazing to think we got those pictures.

they didn't send themselves down, they sent their genetic codin contained in some bacteria or something, which still wouldn't work as if it had the same dna it would be identical to the alien.
the human dna wouldn't match anyway, it would be completely different as they look completely different and even similar humans have different dna.

There should be 8 other planets with life on similar to us. That is the statistics. A guy similar to Hitler ruled the other 8! That would also be a statistic. We were so lucky to beat him!

Ah yes the "theory of life on other planets" OF COURSE THERE IS NO ONE IS THAT STUIPED! well except the government but anyhow....if i ever become president (or rule the world) i'll expose that damn area 51 all the alien spacecraft THE PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW!!

besides i have a theory if people knew the truth our technology would boom even faster then it already is. why you ask? well once people got there hands on computers look what happend?

what if the government released alien technology on us to use and improve on as we pleased? of course the government would watch us all and make sure we dident get it out of hand. Technology would boom and in the next 10-20 years those damn flying cars they promised everyone back in the 50's and so (is that when it was but anyhow) would become true just not another advertising lie.

Then they could say "see we did it...it just was slightly delayed by the money hungry oil companys"

...........this subject is by far the most interesting. I remember reading up there about a science vs religion flame war. Let's declare this post a post for the posting of scientific theories regardless of belief.
Anywho. If you really think about the universe, and the fact that it is many lightyears to the supposed end of our solar system, and the fact that it takes LIGHT one whole big long YEAR to travel one lightyear is really amazing.
And they are still looking for the end of the sol system.
Maybe we'd find it if we stopped paying Britney Spears and started paying the guys at NASA. I hear their wages are kind of disappointing, and thus the incentive to work there has dropped. The really smart people are doing other things that are more rewarding.

LOL from what i see the really smart people (saw this on tech tv or some educational thingy with stephen hawking and other super smart people) are trying to figgure out time travel...why you ask? who knows but why don't they stop thinking about that for awhile and start thinking about how they can improve the space program and the space shuttles and improve interplanet travel im sure they could come up with some type of gas and mor reactor that will get people to mars in like a week...or so...

Steven Hawkins will never invent time travel because if he ever does, he will already have done it, and he hasn't.

This is the same mad scientist that 'invented' dark matter, and i'm not talking about the 3d model pack here.

Steven Hawkins theorised that matter existed which was smaller than the smallest 'thing' we had found to date, and that there was so much of it that it held the universe together.

Well give him a blue peter badge! Of course there was something smaller, and i'd bet my last penny there's something smaller than that, and something smaller than that, and then something smaller than that... The descovery of dark matter in a Welsh mine proved only that Steven Hawkins interest was purely to put his own name to something, if he really wants to do humanity a service he should find out what the hell dark matter actually does and how we can exploit it!

As for life on other planets, it is of course yes. You see as soon as we get up there to actually find other forms of life we ourselves will then be the life on other planets, by the time we have explored the entire universe we will have settled much of it and at that point localised conditions will have evolved the race in different directions, the 'best adapted' as Darwin puts it, will be different for every planet.

Therefor there is not just life on other planets, but there is a multitude of intelligent life - and most of it shares similar DNA and the warlike tendancies of Humanity.

We're heading for a catalcysm.

Well once we have time travel we can travel into the future and just use the technology we will create then and bring it back to the present... or maybe even the past. Unfortunately this would probably create some sort of collapse because we have technology too advanced for our time and you get the picture. That's why I think time travel isn't possible.

We will probably never discover life on other planets, according to the codes written in the bible a nuclear war will end earth in 2006
There clearly is life on other planets, but what I want to know is what is the end of the universe? it cant exist, what would it be? nothing? but isnt nothing something? so it is something, so it isnt the end of the universe

Dark Matter is a very important discovery, and it doesn't really mean that things get smaller, and smaller. What it really means is that space is not really the vacuum that people think it is, it's full of this dark matter. What's more..Dark Matter is actually creating gravity, and scientists haven't worked that out yet..just little old me. It also means that gravity doesn't work the way that scientists think it might work by bending space. Gravity doesn't bend space, or doesn't work by bending space. Also, Dark Matter, and String Theory, are almost the same thing, except that for some reason scientists believe that there are multiple dimensions, all similar to our own! That's a load of tosh! Mistakes in science lead to mistakes in explenations for the universe. There are no multiple dimensions, just the Dark matter, which is like a bead necklace for atoms. Light travels along the Dark Matter like a surfer, and glass just moves the light into the tram lines between the atoms..simple!
I am better than all these scientists!

Well the last planet of our solar system is Pluto (5.5 light hours from the sun) and that is supposed to be the "end" of our solar system. The next closest star is called Proxima Centauri which is over 4 light years away.

I read somewhere that the viking probes in the past showed some evidence that the surface of mars lacked suffecient erosion to be more than 15,000 to 10,000 years old. Which would mean that the cataclysm that destoyed Mars ability to create life happened more recently that millions of years ago.

Actually, throughout our history, there have been UFO sightings, which could mean it's Stephen Hawkins,or more likely time travellers up there...It would explain why they seem to comefrom space or at least upper levels of the atmosphere-what better place to switch time zones than the vacuum of space? If they did it on the Earth's surface, they would risk materializing in some object which had existed there at another time.It could also explain why ufonauts act and look a lot like us-because they are us in the future...

Whatever happened in area 51 did not lead to much in the way of alien technolegy. Govornments don't hide a new propulsion system, they would have used it by now to travel through space, or whatever. Instead, they are sending stuff into space that usually fails to achieve anything.

'universeThe big question is, if the big bang theory is true, what caused the big bang, it had to explode into something, and that something had to come from something.'

In every theory that tells you where things came from, you can ask about where the thing that made them comes from. The primary reason the big bang theory is just as plausible as, say, Christianity, though most scientoligists would be loathe to admit it.

'Blackhole A black hole is either something that takes you back in time, something that takes you to another dimension, or my favorite (and most logical) something that shoots you out faster than the speed of light therefore you can't be seen.'

No, a black hole is a vortex of anti-matter usually caused by a detonating star. They have not been proven and are only theories backed up by people noticing matter moving in spiral patterns around dead stars. All of the universe travel stuff is nothing but science fiction and highly implausible theory-- who knows?

As to 'other life'->

What makes you think the universe outside isn't as big as we think? What makes you think we're not special, that Earth isn't the sole planet given, by some entity, the gift of life? For a species who have not once set foot on a single other planet, we sure are presumptous about understanding the whole universe

...Area 51 had nothing to do with space travel. It was a military training base named for the 51 square miles it occupied. The government kept it secret; why? I guess because they wanted a training place that wouldn't be as easy to be located and nuked in a war . But there's no keeping some people from their conspiracy theories.

The conspiracy theory isn't regarding the base being kept secret. It's to do with a strange explosion, and some metalic material that was found on the ground. Some people say that the silver material was the framework of a UFO, others say that it was a weather baloon. Either way, that is the only reason to talk about the base, not the way that you used your explenation.

Uhh, that's Roswell, not Area 51, and there's really no connection

The Roswell incident was, IMO, what the government came clean about in the 90s: they were testing a new form of high-speed spy sattelites to keep an eye on the soviets. Obviously the technology is useless and enemies swept away now, so there's no reason for them to hide it anymore. Unless it was an alien... which I don't believe .

Quote: "Well the last planet of our solar system is Pluto (5.5 light hours from the sun) and that is supposed to be the "end" of our solar system. The next closest star is called Proxima Centauri which is over 4 light years away."

But there is also the mysterious Planet X. There is something out there a tenth planet something big and powerful they suggest that seems to effect the other outer planets - neptune I think speeds up in its orbit and then slows down again and pluto isn't a big enough magnetic force to do this. Some suggest that Planet X could be a brown dwarf that doesn't emit much light.

Politics comes from two words. 'Poli' meaning many and 'Tics' meaning blood sucking creatures!

Yeah, perhaps I'm a tad old for this forum but at least not as old as the wrinkly rocker himself

Underlord can only have the White House nappy when G. W. Bush has finished with it

Perhaps Mr Kid was warned by the men in black to delete what he said, otherwise he would be taken away for "re-education."
